Scandicci win five-goal thriller at ASD Grassina

Scandicci claimed a dramatic 3-2 away victory over ASD Grassina in Italian Serie D on Sunday, 20 September 2026. The visitors built a commanding lead before Grassina launched a late comeback that made for a tense finish.

It was one of the most entertaining matches of the round, with five goals, momentum swings and chances at both ends. Scandicci’s clinical finishing in the first hour proved decisive, even though Grassina finished the game strongly.

Match overview

Scandicci started with high intensity and pressed Grassina into early mistakes. Their reward came inside the first 10 minutes, and they doubled the lead before half-time with a well-taken goal after a quick counter-attack. Grassina struggled to keep possession in the opening period, but they did create a few half-chances that kept the game alive.

Early in the second half, Scandicci scored a third and appeared to be in full control. Grassina, however, refused to fold. A goal on 71 minutes gave them hope, and a second on 85 minutes set up a nervous closing period. Scandicci managed the final minutes with deep defending and survived a late scare to take all three points.

Key moments

• 9th minute: Scandicci took the lead with a low finish after winning the ball high up the pitch.
• 34th minute: A fast break ended with a composed finish to make it 0-2.
• 58th minute: Scandicci added a third, seemingly putting the result beyond doubt.
• 71st minute: Grassina pulled one back with a header from a cross.
• 85th minute: Grassina scored again, turning a comfortable lead into a tense finale.
• 90+4 minutes: A final Grassina effort was blocked in the box as Scandicci held on for the win.

Tactical story

Scandicci’s high press was the defining feature of the first hour. They forced Grassina into rushed clearances and won the ball in dangerous areas, which led directly to their first and third goals. Their front players also attacked the space behind the defence intelligently.

Grassina improved after making changes, pushing more players into the box and switching to a more direct approach. That made the game chaotic and gave them a route back into the contest. In the end, however, Scandicci’s earlier efficiency was enough to survive the late pressure.

Standout players

Scandicci’s centre-forward was the standout performer, scoring twice and leading the line with movement and strength. Their attacking midfielder also caused problems between the lines. For Grassina, the substitute who changed the tempo and contributed to the comeback deserved credit, while their captain kept pushing the team forward even at 0-3.

Season impact

This 3-2 win gives Scandicci a significant confidence boost and three valuable away points. Grassina can take encouragement from the fightback, but conceding three goals at home will be a concern. In the Serie D table, this result could prove important for Scandicci’s momentum, while Grassina will need to tighten up defensively in the coming weeks.
