PraiaTortora Edge Past Vigor Lamezia in Tight Serie D Clash

ASD Digiesse PraiaTortora secured a narrow 1-0 win over Vigor Lamezia in a fiercely contested Italian Serie D fixture on 25 October 2026. A single goal was enough to decide a match that was short on clear chances but high on intensity, as the home side held on for a precious three points.

From the first whistle, both teams showed why Serie D is known for its physicality and tactical discipline. PraiaTortora looked to impose themselves early, pressing high and forcing Lamezia into mistakes. The visitors, however, defended resolutely and threatened on the break, making for a tense and balanced contest.

Match Overview

The opening exchanges were cagey, with neither side able to carve out a meaningful opportunity. PraiaTortora’s midfield worked tirelessly to close down space, while Lamezia’s backline stood firm against a series of crosses. The breakthrough arrived just before half-time when a well-placed corner was met by Giacomo Russo, whose powerful header found the back of the net.

After the interval, Vigor Lamezia pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but PraiaTortora’s defensive unit held strong. The home side dropped deeper, inviting pressure, but their organisation and commitment prevented any clear-cut chances. The visitors’ best opportunity came from a free-kick in the 78th minute, but the effort sailed just over the bar.

Key Moments

• 41' – Giacomo Russo heads home a corner to give PraiaTortora the lead.
• 57' – Lamezia’s striker breaks through but is denied by a last-ditch tackle.
• 78' – A free-kick from the edge of the box goes narrowly over for the visitors.
• 90+3' – PraiaTortora clear a late corner to secure the win.

Tactical Story

PraiaTortora set up in a disciplined 4-4-2, focusing on keeping their shape and hitting on the counter. Their goal came from a set-piece, a hallmark of their season so far. Lamezia, meanwhile, struggled to break down a compact defence and resorted to long balls in the second half, which were comfortably dealt with by the home centre-backs. The tactical battle was won by PraiaTortora’s ability to stay compact and take their one big chance.

Standout Players

Giacomo Russo was the match-winner, his header proving the difference. At the other end, goalkeeper Marco De Luca made a crucial save at 1-0 to preserve the lead. For Vigor Lamezia, midfielder Francesco Greco was their most inventive player, but he lacked support in the final third.

League Impact

The victory moves PraiaTortora up the Serie D table and gives them confidence ahead of a tough run of fixtures. Vigor Lamezia, meanwhile, will rue their lack of cutting edge, but their overall performance suggests they can bounce back quickly. Both teams remain firmly in the mix in a competitive division.
