Clodiense secured a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Altavilla in Italian Serie D on 2026-10-11, with a single second-half goal deciding a tight contest at 21:00. The visitors defended intelligently and took the one clear chance that came their way, leaving Altavilla to rue a night of missed opportunities.

Clodiense edge a tight battle

Altavilla began the match with energy, pressing Clodiense high and looking to force mistakes in the visitors' defensive third. But Clodiense were well organised, keeping their shape and limiting Altavilla to shots from distance. The first half ended goalless, with both goalkeepers called into action but neither side able to find a breakthrough. The game's decisive moment arrived in the 71st minute when Clodiense forward Riccardo De Marchi found space between the centre-backs and finished low into the corner after a quick passing move.

Altavilla pushed forward in search of an equaliser, sending extra bodies into the box and switching to a more direct style. Clodiense dropped deeper but remained compact, clearing crosses and blocking shots with determination. Despite late pressure and a series of corners, Altavilla could not find a way past the visiting goalkeeper, and Clodiense held on for a valuable three points.

Key moments

• 28' — Altavilla's winger forces a fine save from the Clodiense goalkeeper.
• 45+1' — Clodiense almost take the lead from a free-kick that clips the crossbar.
• 71' — Riccardo De Marchi scores the only goal of the game.
• 84' — Altavilla header goes narrowly wide from a corner.
• 90+4' — Clodiense clear a final dangerous cross to secure the win.

Tactical story

Clodiense's game plan was built on defensive discipline and quick transitions. They allowed Altavilla to have the ball in wide areas but crowded the penalty box, making it difficult for the hosts to find clear shooting angles. When they won possession, they looked to release De Marchi and the wide forwards into space. Altavilla's biggest problem was their final ball: they delivered numerous crosses but too often picked out a defender or overhit the pass. The introduction of fresh legs late on added urgency, but Clodiense's back line held firm.

Standout players

Riccardo De Marchi was the match-winner, his intelligent run and calm finish proving the difference. The Clodiense goalkeeper was equally important, making a crucial save in the first half and commanding the area during the late barrage. In midfield, Clodiense's captain set the tempo and helped his team stay composed under pressure. For Altavilla, the centre-back pairing was solid for long spells, but the attacking players will feel they should have done more with the service they received.

What it means in the Serie D table

The win gives Clodiense a timely boost in the Serie D standings, moving them closer to the playoff positions and extending their encouraging run of form. For Altavilla, the narrow defeat is a frustrating result, especially given the amount of possession they enjoyed. In a division where away wins are precious, Clodiense's ability to grind out results could be the foundation of a successful season.

Altavilla will need to find more creativity in the final third if they are to climb the table, while Clodiense will take confidence from a disciplined away performance that had all the hallmarks of a team learning to win on the road.
