Alessandria delivered a controlled and convincing home performance on Sunday evening, beating Fezzanese 2–0 in a Serie D Group A fixture that the hosts largely dictated from start to finish. Two goals after the interval settled a match that Alessandria had threatened to take control of long before the breakthrough finally arrived.

Match Overview

Alessandria entered the contest as the stronger side on paper, and the opening exchanges reflected that. The hosts moved the ball sharply, kept Fezzanese pinned back and created a steady stream of half-chances, only to be denied by a stubborn defensive display and some wasteful finishing. The visitors defended deep and in numbers, hoping to frustrate and spring counter-attacks.

The deadlock held until the second half, but once Alessandria made the breakthrough, the game opened up in their favour. The second goal, arriving while Fezzanese were still reorganising, effectively ended the contest, and the closing stages were managed with the composure of a team comfortable in its work.

Key Moments

• Early pressure: Alessandria forced a series of corners and long throw-ins inside the first twenty minutes, testing Fezzanese's aerial resilience.
• Opening goal: A patient build-up ended with a strike from the edge of the box that beat the goalkeeper low to his right.
• The cushion: Barely ten minutes later, a quick transition doubled the lead and left Fezzanese with a mountain to climb.
• Game management: Alessandria slowed the tempo, kept the ball and limited their opponents to speculative efforts from distance.

Tactical Story

Alessandria's shape gave them control in every phase. Their midfield rotated constantly, with one player dropping to collect from the centre-backs while the full-backs pushed on to provide width. That structure allowed them to circulate the ball quickly and pin Fezzanese's defensive line deep, creating repeated overloads in wide areas.

Fezzanese's plan was clear: defend compactly, concede possession and look to break at speed. It worked for forty-five minutes, but the discipline required to sustain that approach eventually slipped, and the two goals that followed both came from moments when the defensive block was not quite set. In possession, the visitors rarely managed to keep the ball long enough to relieve the pressure on their own defence.

Standout Performers

Alessandria's midfield was the engine room of the performance, winning second balls and dictating the rhythm of the match. The goalscorers took their chances well, but the most impressive contributions came from the wide players, whose movement dragged defenders out of position and created the space for both goals. Fezzanese's goalkeeper deserved credit for a string of saves that kept the margin respectable.

What It Means

Three points and a clean sheet represent an ideal evening's work for Alessandria, who will view this as exactly the kind of professional home display that builds momentum in a long Serie D campaign. For Fezzanese, the defeat is a reminder of how unforgiving Group A can be: defensive organisation alone is rarely enough against the division's stronger outfits, and more attacking ambition will be needed on the road.
