A.C. Crema 1908 delivered one of their most convincing performances of the Italian Serie D campaign on 18 October 2026, beating Pontedera 4-1 at home. Crema combined early intensity with ruthless finishing, and once they regained control after Pontedera's brief response, the result never looked in serious doubt.

Match overview

Crema flew out of the blocks and were ahead inside 12 minutes when Davide Ferrari converted a low cross at the near post. The home side doubled their lead in the 27th minute through Simone Moretti, whose shot from the edge of the area took a slight deflection on its way in. Pontedera responded well and pulled one back in the 39th minute, Tommaso Neri finishing neatly after a quick break down the right.

That goal gave the visitors hope, but Crema restored their two-goal cushion just before half-time. Ferrari grabbed his second of the match in the 45th minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the box. The second half was more controlled from Crema, who managed the game well and added a fourth in the 68th minute through a well-worked set-piece routine. Pontedera struggled to create clear chances after that, and Crema comfortably saw out the win.

• 39' – Pontedera pull one back: Tommaso Neri converts a fast counter-attack.

Tactical story

Crema's 4-3-3 caused Pontedera problems from the opening whistle. Their wide players stayed high, stretching the away side's back four, and the midfield trio won most of the second balls. Pontedera tried to sit deep and counter, which worked briefly for their goal, but they could not cope with Crema's sustained pressure. The home side's set-piece threat was evident throughout, and their ability to score at key moments either side of half-time killed the contest.

Standout players

Davide Ferrari was the obvious difference-maker, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligence. Moretti controlled the tempo in midfield and capped his performance with a goal, while Crema's defence recovered well after conceding. Pontedera's Neri took his chance well, but the visitors lacked the defensive solidity to stay in the game.

Season impact

The three points strengthen Crema's position in the Serie D table and give them a strong platform for the coming weeks. A 4-1 home win also boosts goal difference, which can matter in a tight promotion race. Pontedera, meanwhile, will need to address their defensive transitions after a difficult evening.
