Salernitana 2-2 Scafatese — Salernitana were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by a resilient Scafatese side in Italian Serie C action, a result that will feel like two points dropped for the promotion hopefuls after they twice surrendered the advantage at the Stadio Arechi.

Match Overview

Salernitana started brightly in front of a passionate home crowd, controlling possession and forcing Scafatese deep into their own half. The visitors, well organised and content to defend in numbers, absorbed the early pressure and looked to spring forward on the counter whenever the Granata lost the ball in midfield.

The first half produced an open contest with chances at both ends. Salernitana's movement between the lines caused problems, while Scafatese's direct running on the break kept the home defence honest throughout.

Key Moments

• Salernitana take the lead — A well-worked move down the left ended with a composed finish inside the box.
• Scafatese respond — The visitors equalised before the break, punishing a loose pass with a clinical counter-attacking goal.
• Second-half surge — Salernitana restored their advantage with a header from a corner, the Arechi erupting.
• The late sting — Scafatese found an equaliser in the final quarter of the match, converting after a scramble in the penalty area.

Tactical Story

Salernitana's issue was familiar: plenty of ball, insufficient incision. Their build-up was neat, but too many attacks ended in crosses from wide positions rather than clear sights of goal. Scafatese, by contrast, were ruthlessly direct — three passes and a shot was often their template, and it nearly produced a shock winner in the closing stages.

The Granata's midfield sat high after taking the lead, and that gamble allowed Scafatese to exploit the space behind. The substitutions made by the visitors in the second half added fresh legs in wide areas and proved instrumental in the equalising move.

Standout Performers

Salernitana's attacking midfielder was at the heart of everything positive, linking play and delivering the set piece that led to the second goal. For Scafatese, the striker's hold-up play and relentless running gave his team a platform to build from, while the goalkeeper made two excellent stops to keep the deficit manageable.

What It Means

For Salernitana, dropped points at home in Serie C are expensive in a division where the race for promotion places is decided by fine margins. The draw leaves them with work to do and increases the pressure on their next outing. Scafatese, meanwhile, will take real satisfaction from a point at one of Italian football's most intimidating venues — evidence that they can compete with the division's stronger squads.
