Renate AC and Giana Erminio Draw 2-2 in Serie C Girone A

Renate AC and Giana Erminio shared the points in a pulsating 2-2 draw in Italian Serie C Girone A on 11 October 2026. A stoppage-time equaliser from Giana Erminio denied Renate a home victory and capped a match that swung one way and then the other at the Stadio Mino Favini in Meda.

Renate had looked on course for all three points after twice taking the lead, but Giana Erminio’s persistence and late attacking substitutions paid off in dramatic fashion. The result keeps both teams in the thick of the mid-table battle, with the playoff race already beginning to take shape.

Match Overview

Renate AC lined up in a 3-5-2, using wing-backs to stretch the pitch and create overloads in wide areas. Giana Erminio responded with a narrow 4-3-1-2, looking to press centrally and spring quick counter-attacks. The hosts took the lead in the 17th minute through Matteo Riva, who finished off a flowing move down the right.

Giana equalised in the 39th minute when Luca Bianchi found space between the centre-backs and slotted past the goalkeeper. Renate restored their advantage in the 64th minute through Francesco Colombo, but just as the home crowd began to celebrate a hard-fought win, Andrea Moretti struck in the third minute of stoppage time.

Tactical Story

Renate AC’s 3-5-2 gave them control in wide areas for much of the match, and their first goal was a perfect example of the system working: a wing-back advanced, a cross was delivered, and the forwards attacked the box. However, the three-man defence occasionally left gaps between the centre-backs, and Giana Erminio exploited that space for both of their goals.

Giana’s 4-3-1-2 was designed to congest the middle and force Renate wide. For long periods it worked defensively, but it limited their own attacking width. The introduction of Moretti and a switch to a more direct 4-2-4 in the final 15 minutes changed the dynamic, allowing Giana to push more bodies forward and ultimately find the late equaliser.

Standout Players

Matteo Riva was a constant threat for Renate AC, scoring the opener and linking play intelligently. Francesco Colombo also stood out with his headed goal and commanding presence in both boxes. In midfield, Davide Conti kept Renate ticking with intelligent passing and positional discipline.

For Giana Erminio, Luca Bianchi was the best player on the pitch for long spells, scoring one and creating several chances. Substitute Andrea Moretti made the decisive contribution with his late goal, while goalkeeper Simone Ferrari kept his side in the match with two important first-half saves.

Season Impact and Standings Context

The draw leaves Renate AC frustrated but still in a promising position in Serie C Girone A. They remain in the hunt for a playoff spot but will need to manage late-game situations better if they are to challenge at the top. Giana Erminio, meanwhile, will view the point as a valuable away result that keeps them clear of the relegation playout zone and within touching distance of mid-table security.

With the Serie C season still in its early months, both teams have time to refine their promotion and survival ambitions. However, matches like this one can prove crucial in the final reckoning. Renate’s ability to create chances is clear; Giana’s resilience is equally evident. The return fixture later in the season will be one to watch.
