Ravenna Defeat SS Città di Campobasso 3-1 in Serie C Girone B

Ravenna produced a confident attacking display to beat SS Città di Campobasso 3-1 in Italian Serie C Girone B on 11 October 2026. A brace from Marco Rossi inspired the home side to a victory that lifts them into the playoff conversation and deepens Campobasso’s early-season struggles.

Played at the Stadio Bruno Benelli, the match was decided by Ravenna’s high pressing and clinical finishing. Campobasso had moments of promise, especially after pulling a goal back in the second half, but Ravenna’s third goal late on ended any hopes of a comeback.

Match Overview

Ravenna started with intent, pressing Campobasso’s defenders high up the pitch and forcing errors. The approach brought an early reward in the 8th minute when Marco Rossi intercepted a misplaced pass and finished confidently. Campobasso tried to settle, using a 4-2-3-1 to build through midfield, but Ravenna’s 4-3-3 continued to cause problems with its aggressive positioning.

Ravenna doubled their lead in the 51st minute through Lorenzo Bianchi, who curled a shot into the far corner after a quick exchange on the edge of the box. Campobasso responded well and pulled one back in the 70th minute through Antonio Esposito, but Rossi’s second goal in the 86th minute sealed the win.

Tactical Story

Ravenna’s high press was the foundation of their victory. By pushing the defensive line up and crowding Campobasso’s midfield, they forced long passes and won possession in dangerous areas. The first goal came directly from that pressure, and Campobasso never fully adapted to Ravenna’s intensity.

Campobasso’s 4-2-3-1 looked to create through central combinations, but they were often outnumbered in midfield. When they did find space, they looked dangerous, particularly in the 15 minutes after their goal. However, Ravenna’s decision to drop slightly deeper and protect their lead before striking on the counter proved effective, and Rossi’s late goal was the perfect execution of that plan.

Standout Players

Marco Rossi was the undisputed star of the match, scoring twice and leading the press from the front. His movement and finishing were too much for Campobasso’s defence, and he now has six league goals for the season. Lorenzo Bianchi also impressed with his goal and creative passing, while midfielder Andrea Fabbri controlled the tempo.

For SS Città di Campobasso, Antonio Esposito was the brightest spark, taking his goal well and working tirelessly in attack. Goalkeeper Paolo Ricci made several saves to keep the score respectable, but the visitors lacked the defensive solidity to contain Ravenna’s attacking waves.

Season Impact and Standings Context

The win moves Ravenna into a stronger position in Serie C Girone B, keeping them in touch with the playoff places and boosting their goal difference. Campobasso, meanwhile, remain near the lower end of the table and will need to address their defensive vulnerabilities quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.

Ravenna’s attacking form is becoming a real asset, and if they can maintain this level of pressing and finishing, they could emerge as genuine promotion playoff contenders. For Campobasso, the focus must now shift to tightening up at the back and turning promising spells into points. The head-to-head record between these two sides now favors Ravenna, who will travel to Campobasso later in the season with confidence.
