Pro Vercelli came from behind to beat A.C. Ospitaletto 2-1 in Italian Serie C on 26 October 2026, with a second-half winner completing a patient and ultimately deserved comeback.

Ospitaletto stunned the home side by taking an early lead, but Pro Vercelli responded with composure rather than panic. The hosts gradually took control, equalized before half-time and found the decisive goal after the break. It was a performance built on patience, width and the quality of Pro Vercelli’s substitutes in the second half.

Match overview

Pro Vercelli dominated possession for long stretches but had to be careful against Ospitaletto’s quick counter-attacks. The visitors defended in a compact block and looked to spring forward whenever they won the ball. That approach worked early on, but Pro Vercelli’s persistence and improved movement in the final third eventually wore them down.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Luca Ferrari gave Ospitaletto a surprise lead with a composed finish after a fast break down the right.
• 42nd minute: Alessandro Bruno equalized for Pro Vercelli with a strong header from a deep cross.
• 76th minute: Matteo Greco scored the winner, arriving late in the box to convert a cut-back from the left.
• 90th minute: Ospitaletto pushed forward for a late equalizer, but Pro Vercelli’s defence held firm.

Tactical story

Pro Vercelli’s patient build-up and use of width were central to the comeback. The home side circulated the ball well, drew Ospitaletto’s midfield across the pitch and then attacked the spaces on the flanks. Ospitaletto’s low block was effective in the first half, but as the game wore on, Pro Vercelli’s sustained pressure and fresher legs from the bench made the difference.

Standout players

Alessandro Bruno was a commanding presence in the air and scored the crucial equalizer. Matteo Greco showed excellent timing to score the winner and linked play intelligently in the final third. For Ospitaletto, Luca Ferrari was a constant threat on the counter and took his goal well.

Season impact

The win strengthens Pro Vercelli’s position in the Serie C Girone A standings and reinforces their ability to grind out results when not at their fluent best. Ospitaletto can take heart from a disciplined away performance, but they will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after leading. In a division as tight as Serie C, turning promising spells into points is essential.
