FC Savoia 1908 claimed a 2-0 victory over AS Sorrento Calcio in their Italian Serie C PRO Cup match on 28 October 2026, delivering a composed home performance built on control, patience, and timely finishing. Savoia’s two-goal margin gave them a clear result in a cup tie that demanded discipline from the first whistle to the last.

Match Overview

FC Savoia 1908 set the tone early with a confident approach, keeping possession in midfield and forcing AS Sorrento Calcio into a defensive posture. The home side looked the more settled unit throughout the opening period, circulating the ball with purpose and creating the better chances. Sorrento, by contrast, found it difficult to sustain attacks and were often pushed back toward their own penalty area.

The match remained competitive, but Savoia’s structure gave them a platform to dictate the rhythm. Their pressing was measured rather than reckless, and their back line handled Sorrento’s counterattacking attempts without allowing the visitors to build momentum. The 2-0 scoreline reflected Savoia’s greater control of the key moments.

Key Moments

Savoia’s breakthrough came before half-time after a spell of sustained pressure. A well-worked attacking move opened space around the Sorrento penalty area, and the home side made the opportunity count to take a deserved lead into the interval. The goal changed the shape of the contest, forcing Sorrento to commit more players forward after the restart.

Sorrento’s best spell came early in the second half, when they pushed higher and tried to stretch the Savoia defence. However, the home side absorbed the pressure and continued to look dangerous on the break. Savoia sealed the result with a second goal late in the match, ending any realistic hope of a Sorrento comeback and confirming their place in the next stage of the competition.

Tactical Story

FC Savoia 1908’s victory was built on balance. Their midfield protected the defence while also linking quickly with the attack, and their wide players stretched Sorrento’s back line throughout the night. When Sorrento attempted to press higher after conceding, Savoia responded by moving the ball into space and using quick combinations to bypass the pressure.

AS Sorrento Calcio showed flashes of quality but lacked the final pass in the attacking third. Their defensive shape was organized for long periods, yet they struggled to contain Savoia’s sustained possession. The visitors’ late push left gaps at the back, and Savoia’s second goal was a fair reflection of how the match unfolded.

Standout Performances

Savoia’s defensive unit deserved credit for a clean sheet, communicating well and dealing with Sorrento’s crosses and set pieces. The midfield controlled the tempo of the game, while the attacking players showed composure in the decisive moments. For Sorrento, the goalkeeper and centre-backs produced several important interventions, but the team could not turn those individual efforts into a result.

What the Result Means

The 2-0 win strengthens FC Savoia 1908’s position in the Italian Serie C PRO Cup and gives them momentum heading into their next fixture. For AS Sorrento Calcio, the defeat leaves them with work to do, particularly in attack, where greater sharpness will be needed in future cup matches. Savoia’s ability to manage the game after taking the lead was the defining feature of a professional home performance.
