Lumezzane win five-goal thriller against Albinoleffe

Lumezzane emerged victorious from a dramatic five-goal contest against Albinoleffe in Italian Serie C on October 10, 2026, winning 3-2 after a night of lead changes, momentum swings and late tension. The match, which kicked off at 23:30 local time, was one of the most entertaining fixtures of the round and showcased the attacking quality in both squads.

Albinoleffe twice fought back to level the score, but Lumezzane found a decisive third goal in the closing stages to claim all three points. The result boosts Lumezzane’s push toward the upper half of the Serie C table while leaving Albinoleffe with a familiar sense of frustration after a promising attacking display.

Match overview

Lumezzane started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute. A high press forced a turnover, and striker Matteo Riva fired a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The home crowd barely had time to settle before Albinoleffe responded. In the 21st minute, a well-delivered cross from the right was headed home by centre-forward Lorenzo Gatti, making it 1-1.

The equaliser did not discourage Lumezzane. They regained the lead in the 39th minute when midfielder Simone Ferrari arrived late in the box to convert a cut-back. It was a goal that rewarded their willingness to commit numbers forward, and they went into half-time with a 2-1 advantage.

The second half was equally open. Albinoleffe equalised for the second time in the 57th minute through a brilliant individual effort from winger Andrea Colombo, who cut inside from the left and curled a shot into the top corner. At 2-2, the game looked destined for a draw.

The winning goal came in the 82nd minute. Lumezzane won the ball in midfield and broke at pace. A clever pass released Davide Moretti, who had come off the bench only minutes earlier, and he guided a first-time shot beyond the Albinoleffe goalkeeper. The stadium erupted, and Lumezzane managed the remaining minutes with composure.

Tactical story and standout players

Lumezzane played a flexible 4-3-3 that became a 4-5-1 when defending, looking to deny Albinoleffe space between the lines. Their pressing was aggressive in the first half, and it directly led to the opening goal. Albinoleffe used a 3-5-2 and tried to overload the wide areas, which worked well for long spells but left them vulnerable to quick counters.

Matteo Riva was a constant threat for Lumezzane, scoring the opener and stretching the defence with his runs. Simone Ferrari controlled the midfield and scored a crucial goal, while substitute Davide Moretti made the decisive impact. Goalkeeper Marco Bellini also made two important saves at 2-2 to keep his team level.

For Albinoleffe, Andrea Colombo was the standout player. His goal was the best individual moment of the match, and he was a danger every time he isolated his marker. Lorenzo Gatti led the line well and took his header confidently. However, defensive lapses at key moments ultimately cost them a point.

Standings and season impact

The win gives Lumezzane a significant confidence boost in Serie C and strengthens their position in the race for a playoff spot. Scoring three goals against a well-organised opponent is no small achievement, and the manner of the victory—showing resilience after being pegged back twice—will please the coaching staff. Their home form is becoming a real weapon.

Albinoleffe, meanwhile, will rue their missed opportunities. They showed plenty of character to equalise twice and were arguably the better side for parts of the second half. But in a division as tight as Serie C, conceding three goals away from home makes it difficult to take anything from the game. The head-to-head record now tilts toward Lumezzane, and the rematch later in the season will be an important chance for Albinoleffe to respond. For now, Lumezzane can celebrate a thrilling 3-2 win that will be remembered by their supporters for a long time.
