Lecco and US Folgore Caratese shared the points in a 2-2 draw in Italian Serie C on 26 October 2026, with a late equalizer denying the home side a victory they had twice appeared close to securing.

It was an open, competitive Girone A contest in which Lecco controlled long spells but Caratese remained dangerous on the break. The visitors twice responded to setbacks and earned a deserved point with a late goal that silenced the home support. For Lecco, it felt like two points dropped; for Caratese, it was another sign of their resilience.

Match overview

Lecco began with patient possession and looked to pull Caratese out of their defensive block. The home side’s midfield rotated well, creating space between the lines, and the opening goal arrived from a well-worked move. Caratese, however, were never out of the game. Their 4-4-2 shape stayed compact and their counter-attacks carried real threat, especially when Lecco’s full-backs pushed forward.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Davide Sala gave Lecco the lead with a first-time finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.
• 34th minute: Caratese equalized through Matteo Ferri, who reacted quickest to a loose ball and beat the goalkeeper from close range.
• 67th minute: Riccardo Villa restored Lecco’s advantage with a header from a deep cross.
• 88th minute: Andrea Colombo rescued a point for Caratese, finishing a rapid transition with a low strike into the corner.

Tactical story

Lecco’s 3-4-2-1 gave them control in midfield, but it also left space behind the wing-backs when attacks broke down. Caratese exploited that space intelligently, often turning defence into attack within two or three passes. Lecco created the better volume of chances, but their inability to manage the final minutes proved costly. Caratese’s substitutes added energy and helped them push for the equalizer.

Standout players

Davide Sala was central to Lecco’s best attacking moments, linking play and arriving in the box at the right time. Riccardo Villa showed composure with his goal and worked hard in midfield. For Caratese, Matteo Ferri and Andrea Colombo were the key figures, combining movement, pressing and finishing.

Season impact

The draw leaves Lecco with mixed feelings in the Serie C promotion race. They remain a difficult side to beat, but late concessions can undermine a promotion push over the course of a long season. Caratese, by contrast, will take confidence from twice coming from behind against one of the stronger teams in the division. The point rewards their tactical discipline and fighting spirit.
