Latina Calcio 1932 held to 1-1 draw by Guidonia

Latina Calcio 1932 were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Guidonia in Italian Serie C, as a late equalizer denied the home side all three points at the Stadio Domenico Francioni. Latina had controlled long spells of the match and looked set to win, but Guidonia’s persistence paid off in the final quarter of the game.

The result extends Latina’s unbeaten run but leaves them frustrated, especially after taking the lead through Alessandro Rossi in the first half. Guidonia, who defended in a compact block and looked to counter, grew into the contest after the break and found their reward through Matteo Bianchi. The draw keeps both teams in the thick of the Serie C Girone C battle.

Match overview

Latina Calcio 1932 began with intent, dominating possession and pushing Guidonia back. Their midfield trio circulated the ball well, and the wide players stretched the visitors’ defense. The opening goal came from a patient build-up, with Rossi arriving in the box to finish a low cross. At that point, Latina looked capable of adding a second.

Guidonia, however, remained organized. Their 5-3-2 shape limited central space, and they threatened on the break through quick transitions. As the second half progressed, Latina’s tempo dropped, and Guidonia began to win more territory. The equalizer came from a well-worked move, and although Latina pushed late for a winner, they could not find a way through.

Key moments

• 34’ – 1-0: Alessandro Rossi gave Latina the lead with a first-time finish from inside the area.
• 51’ – Guidonia’s first clear chance, a counterattack that ended with a save from the Latina goalkeeper.
• 78’ – 1-1: Matteo Bianchi equalized for Guidonia, curling a shot beyond the goalkeeper.
• 90+3’ – Latina had a late penalty appeal turned down after a challenge in the box.

Tactical story

Latina’s 4-3-3 gave them control in the first half, but their inability to convert dominance into a second goal proved costly. Guidonia’s back five absorbed pressure and then attacked the spaces left by Latina’s advanced full-backs. The visitors also improved their set-piece delivery, forcing Latina to defend deeper as the match wore on.

In the final 20 minutes, Latina struggled to maintain their pressing intensity. Guidonia’s substitutions added fresh legs in midfield, and the equalizer came after a spell of sustained pressure. Latina will feel they should have managed the game better, while Guidonia will see the draw as a reward for their discipline.

Standout players

Alessandro Rossi was Latina’s most dangerous player, scoring and linking play in the final third. Guidonia’s Matteo Bianchi was the visitors’ hero, taking his goal with real quality. Guidonia’s goalkeeper also deserves credit for a series of saves that kept the score within reach before the equalizer.

Table impact

Latina Calcio 1932 remain in the promotion conversation but have dropped valuable points in the race for the Serie C play-off places. Guidonia move a little further from the relegation zone and will take belief from earning a point at a difficult away ground. Both sides now turn their attention to the next matchday, knowing that consistency will define their seasons.
