Forli 1-1 Sassari Torres: Points Shared in Tight Serie C Battle

Forli and Sassari Torres played out a 1-1 draw in Italian Serie C on Saturday, 19 September 2026. Marco Bianchi gave Forli a first-half lead, but Luca Rossi equalised for Sassari Torres after the break, and neither side could find a winning goal in a closely contested Serie C fixture.

Match Overview

Forli began the match with purpose and controlled the early tempo, pressing Sassari Torres high and forcing mistakes in the visiting defence. Their reward came in the 35th minute when Marco Bianchi found space on the edge of the box and curled a fine left-footed shot into the far corner. It was a goal that reflected Forli’s bright start, and they went into half-time with a deserved lead.

Sassari Torres responded well after the interval. The Sardinian side increased their intensity, moved the ball quicker in midfield, and began to test the Forli back line with crosses and through balls. Their equaliser arrived in the 61st minute when Luca Rossi latched onto a clever pass and finished calmly past the goalkeeper. Both teams pushed for a winner in the final twenty minutes, but a combination of good goalkeeping and last-ditch defending ensured the points were shared.

• 35th minute – Forli 1-0: Marco Bianchi cut inside from the left and curled a precise shot into the bottom corner.
• 52nd minute – Sassari Torres chance: A deep cross found the striker at the back post, but his header crashed off the crossbar.
• 61st minute – Sassari Torres 1-1: Luca Rossi timed his run perfectly and slotted a low finish beyond the Forli goalkeeper.

• 90+1st minute – Late save: Sassari Torres’ goalkeeper made a strong stop from a free-kick to preserve the draw.

Tactical Story

Forli’s game plan was based on quick pressing and attacking down the left, where Bianchi was a constant threat. They looked the more cohesive side in the first half, moving the ball with purpose and creating overloads in wide areas. However, they struggled to maintain that intensity after the break, and Sassari Torres gradually took control of midfield.

Sassari Torres adapted well at half-time, switching to a more direct approach and targeting the space behind Forli’s full-backs. The equaliser came from exactly that tactic, with Rossi timing his run to beat the offside trap. Forli responded with a series of late attacks, but Sassari Torres defended with discipline and managed the closing stages effectively. A draw was a fair reflection of a balanced contest.

Standout Players

Marco Bianchi was Forli’s best player, combining creativity with a well-taken goal. The home goalkeeper also made two important saves, including a late free-kick stop. For Sassari Torres, Luca Rossi was the standout, not only for his equaliser but for his intelligent movement and link-up play. The visiting centre-backs grew stronger as the game went on, limiting Forli’s chances in the final third.

Table and Season Impact

The draw keeps both clubs in the middle section of the Serie C standings, with valuable momentum at stake. Forli will feel they should have capitalised on their first-half dominance, while Sassari Torres will be pleased with the character shown in coming from behind. In the long Serie C season, away draws against direct rivals can prove important, and both sides will look to turn these performances into wins in the coming weeks.

What’s Next

Forli will focus on maintaining their first-half intensity for the full ninety minutes, while Sassari Torres will aim to build on a solid second-half display. Both teams return to Serie C action with plenty to play for, and this 1-1 result leaves the table finely balanced.
