Tactical Story

Foggia’s high press was the foundation of their victory. They won the ball back quickly in midfield and attacked before Sorrento could set their defensive shape. The home side also dominated set pieces, with their second goal coming from a corner. Sorrento, meanwhile, struggled to build from the back and were often forced into hurried clearances.

Foggia’s midfield controlled the rhythm of the game, knowing when to slow things down and when to accelerate. Their defensive line pushed up aggressively, compressing the space and making it difficult for Sorrento’s forwards to get involved. It was a tactical performance that highlighted Foggia’s promotion credentials.

Standout Players

Foggia’s striker was a constant threat, scoring the opener and leading the line with energy. The center-back who scored the second goal was dominant in both boxes, while the goalkeeper made a smart late save to secure the clean sheet. For Sorrento, the goalkeeper was arguably their best player, making several saves to keep the score from becoming more lopsided.

Season Impact

The three points and clean sheet lift Foggia in the Italian Serie C standings and reinforce their push for a prominent position in the promotion race. AS Sorrento Calcio leave empty-handed and will need to regroup quickly, especially after struggling to create clear chances. For Foggia, this was exactly the kind of disciplined home performance that builds confidence and momentum for the weeks ahead.
