FC Savoia 1908 1-1 Casarano: Honours Shared in Serie C Clash

FC Savoia 1908 and Casarano played out a 1-1 draw in Italian Serie C on September 19, 2026, with both sides scoring in a competitive match that swung back and forth after the interval. The point leaves both teams with something to build on, though each will feel they had chances to take all three.

Savoia started brightly in front of their home supporters and took the lead midway through the first half. Casarano responded with a stronger second-half performance and equalised just after the hour mark. Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, despite a lively finish.

Match Overview

Savoia’s approach was clear from the first whistle: get the ball wide, stretch Casarano’s defensive line, and deliver early crosses. That tactic paid off in the 23rd minute when a quick move down the right ended with a low cross into the box. The Savoia forward arrived ahead of his marker and slotted the ball home from close range to make it 1-0.

Casarano needed time to settle. They struggled to keep possession in the opening half-hour, often forced into long balls by Savoia’s aggressive pressing. But as the first half wore on, the visitors began to find pockets of space in midfield and started to ask questions of the Savoia defence.

Key Moments

After the break, Casarano came out with more intent. They pushed their full-backs higher and committed more bodies forward, and the equaliser arrived in the 61st minute. A well-worked move through the middle ended with a clever through ball, and the Casarano striker rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into the empty net.

Savoia nearly responded immediately. In the 68th minute, a header from a corner beat the goalkeeper but struck the crossbar. Ten minutes later, a powerful shot from the edge of the area was parried away by the Casarano goalkeeper, who reacted quickly to smother the follow-up.

Casarano had a golden chance to win it in the 84th minute when a counter-attack left them three-on-two, but the final pass was slightly heavy, allowing the Savoia defender to recover. In stoppage time, both teams traded half-chances, but the score remained level.

Tactical Story

Savoia set up in a 4-2-3-1, using their wingers to isolate Casarano’s full-backs. Their early goal came from exactly that pattern. However, as the game progressed, Casarano adjusted by doubling up on the flanks and forcing Savoia inside, where the visitors’ central defenders were strong.

Casarano’s 4-3-3 became more effective in the second half as their midfield trio started to win second balls. Their equaliser came from a central overload, and after that, they looked the more likely team to score. Savoia’s fitness and determination kept them in the game, but they lacked the same control after their opening burst.

Standout Players

• Savoia winger: Tormented the Casarano right-back in the first half and provided the assist for the opening goal.
• Casarano striker: Took his goal calmly and led the line well, holding up play and bringing others into the match.
• Casarano central midfielder: Drove his team forward in the second half and dictated the tempo of the comeback.
• Savoia goalkeeper: Made a crucial save in the 78th minute and was reliable on crosses.

What It Means for the Table

The draw adds a point to both teams’ Serie C campaigns. Savoia will be frustrated to have let their lead slip at home, especially after starting so strongly. Casarano, meanwhile, will take confidence from their second-half response and the character shown to equalise away from home.

With the season still taking shape, this result serves as a reminder that no lead is safe in Serie C. Both Savoia and Casarano will look to turn draws into wins in their next fixtures as they chase a stronger position in the standings.
