Crotone 0-1 Casarano — Casarano claimed a valuable 1-0 away win over Crotone at the Stadio Ezio Scida on October 27, 2026, grinding out three Serie C points with a disciplined defensive display and a decisive second-half goal. The visitors defended their penalty area with composure and punished the hosts on one of the few occasions when Crotone’s possession left them exposed at the back.

Match overview

Crotone began the game with the greater share of the ball and looked to impose themselves early, pushing their full-backs high and encouraging their midfield to play through the lines. The Squali created a handful of half-chances in the opening half-hour, but Casarano’s back line stayed compact and forced the home side into crosses from wide areas rather than clear sights of goal.

The decisive moment arrived just after the hour mark. Casarano won the ball in midfield, moved it quickly into the channel and produced a low finish from the edge of the box that beat the Crotone goalkeeper. It was a goal that reflected the visitors’ game plan: stay organised, defend the central areas and strike with purpose when the opportunity appeared.

Crotone responded with more urgency and pushed numbers forward late on, but Casarano’s goalkeeper and central defenders held firm through a tense closing spell. The hosts’ best chances came from set pieces and second balls in the box, yet the final touch was missing on an evening when the away side’s concentration never dropped.

Key moments

• Early pressure: Crotone moved the ball well in the opening stages and forced Casarano into a series of defensive clearances, but the visitors survived without conceding.
• First real save: Casarano’s goalkeeper was called into action before the break, getting down well to stop a low effort from the edge of the area.
• 64th-minute breakthrough: Casarano turned a midfield turnover into a quick attacking transition and found the bottom corner with a measured finish.
• Late Crotone surge: The hosts introduced fresh legs and sent more bodies into the box, but a combination of blocks and goalkeeping kept Casarano ahead.
• Stoppage-time scramble: Crotone’s final opportunity came from a corner, but the ball was cleared away as Casarano saw out the win.

Tactical story

Crotone’s approach was built on control and width. The home side circulated the ball patiently, tried to isolate Casarano’s full-backs and looked for late runs into the penalty area. However, their attacking rhythm was disrupted by Casarano’s compact block, which denied space between the lines and forced Crotone to play in front of the defence rather than through it.

Casarano, by contrast, were happy to concede possession in less dangerous areas. Their midfield stayed close to the centre-backs, limiting Crotone’s ability to find pockets of space, and their forwards worked hard to press the first pass when the opportunity arose. The winning goal was a perfect example of their discipline: a quick regain, a direct forward pass and a calm finish under pressure.

The match became a test of patience. Crotone had more of the ball, but Casarano had the clearer plan for how to defend it. As the game wore on, the visitors dropped deeper and invited pressure, yet they protected the central corridor well and made Crotone’s crosses predictable.

Standout performers

Casarano’s goalkeeper was central to the result, making important saves in both halves and commanding his area during the late aerial bombardment. The visiting central defenders also deserved credit for their positioning and timing, repeatedly stepping in front of Crotone attackers to clear dangerous deliveries.

In midfield, Casarano’s captain set the tone with disciplined positioning and smart fouls when the home side threatened to break. For Crotone, the deepest midfielder tried to dictate tempo and switch play, while the wide players offered energy, but the final ball too often lacked the precision needed to unlock a well-drilled opponent.

What the result means

The three points are a significant boost for Casarano, who showed the kind of away resilience that can shape a Serie C season. Winning at a ground like the Stadio Ezio Scida requires more than luck, and the visitors earned their clean sheet through organisation, work rate and clinical finishing at the key moment.

For Crotone, this will feel like two points dropped at home. The Squali had enough possession and territory to take something from the game, but they lacked the cutting edge to break down a low block. In a tightly packed Serie C table, home results against sides prepared to defend deep can prove decisive, and Crotone will need to find more variety in the final third as the season progresses.<
