The hosts scored four times in a breathtaking performance that lifted them out of the relegation zone and dealt a serious blow to Sassuolo’s European ambitions.

The match was expected to be a tight tactical battle, but it turned into a goal-fest. Sassuolo twice threatened a comeback, but every time they gained momentum, Frosinone found another gear.

Match Overview

Frosinone set up in a 4-3-3 with a high pressing line, aiming to disrupt Sassuolo’s build-up play. Sassuolo, known for their possession-based style, tried to play out from the back, but Frosinone’s front three cut off passing lanes and forced long balls. The hosts dominated the first half and could have scored more than the two goals they managed before the break.

Sassuolo improved after half-time, pulling one back and creating a tense period, but defensive errors continued to haunt them. Frosinone restored their two-goal cushion and then added a fourth to put the result beyond doubt. It was a performance that showcased Frosinone’s attacking potential and Sassuolo’s fragility at the back.

Tactical Story

Frosinone’s high press was the defining feature of the match. They suffocated Sassuolo’s midfield and forced turnovers in dangerous areas, leading directly to several goalscoring opportunities. The front three rotated constantly, making it difficult for Sassuolo’s defenders to mark them. When Sassuolo did break the press, Frosinone dropped into a compact 4-4-2 and protected their penalty area.

Sassuolo’s defensive issues were exposed repeatedly. Their back line played too high at times, and their midfield failed to track runners. Going forward, they created chances and scored twice, but the defensive performance will concern their manager. Frosinone, meanwhile, showed exactly why they can be a dangerous opponent when their pressing game clicks.

Standout Players

Marvin Cuni was the star of the show with a brilliant brace, his movement and finishing causing Sassuolo problems all evening. Luca Mazzitelli controlled the midfield and scored a spectacular opener, while Arijon Ibrahimovic added flair and a crucial fourth goal. For Sassuolo, Domenico Berardi and Andrea Pinamonti took their goals well, but the team’s defensive display left much to be desired.

Season Impact and Standings Context

The victory is a massive boost for Frosinone in the Serie A standings, lifting them out of the relegation places and giving them renewed belief for the battles ahead. Sassuolo remain in the hunt for a European spot, but this defeat slows their momentum and highlights the need for defensive improvement.
