Venezia F.C. Youth secured a 2-1 away victory over Udinese U20 in the Italian Campionato Primavera 2 on 17 October 2026. The visitors produced a disciplined and efficient performance, scoring in each half and withstanding late pressure to take all three points.

Udinese started with intent and looked to impose themselves early, but Venezia defended compactly and grew into the game. The visitors took the lead midway through the first half and doubled their advantage after the break. Udinese pulled one back and pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Venezia’s organisation and composure saw them through.

Match overview

The match was a contrast in styles. Udinese wanted to dominate possession and play through midfield, while Venezia were content to defend in a structured block and attack quickly in transition. That approach paid off, as Venezia created the clearer chances despite seeing less of the ball.

Udinese’s best spells came after their goal, when they pushed more players forward and forced a series of corners and crosses. Venezia’s defence held firm, though, and the visitors’ goalkeeper made two important saves in the final minutes to preserve the win.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Lorenzo Bianchi gave Venezia the lead with a precise finish after a quick counter-attack.
• 40th minute: Udinese’s best chance of the first half came from a free kick, but the header went over.
• 51st minute: Matteo Ferri equalised for Udinese with a strong run and finish inside the box.
• 79th minute: Andrea Conti restored Venezia’s lead, finishing off a well-worked move down the right.
• 90+3 minutes: Venezia’s goalkeeper produced a crucial save to deny Udinese a late equaliser.

Tactical story

Venezia’s game plan was built on defensive discipline and quick transitions. Their midfield stayed compact, limiting the space Udinese could use between the lines. When they won possession, they looked to release their forwards early, and that direct approach created the opening goal.

Udinese responded well after conceding and enjoyed more possession in the second half. Their equaliser came from a more direct attack, with Ferri driving into the box and finishing confidently. However, Venezia’s ability to defend their penalty area and counter with purpose proved decisive. The visitors’ late winner came from a move that stretched Udinese’s back line and left space for a close-range finish.

Standout players

Lorenzo Bianchi’s first-half goal gave Venezia belief, and his movement caused problems throughout. Andrea Conti was the match-winner, showing composure to finish the decisive chance. Venezia’s goalkeeper also deserves credit for a calm performance and a vital late save.

For Udinese, Matteo Ferri was the brightest attacking player and took his goal well. The young midfielder’s energy helped drive the team forward after the break, but Udinese were unable to turn their late pressure into a second goal. Their defenders will review the two conceded goals, both of which came from moments when Venezia found space in behind.

Season impact

The victory is an important one for Venezia F.C. Youth in the Campionato Primavera 2, giving them three points on the road against a competitive Udinese side. It highlights their ability to manage games and defend a lead under pressure, qualities that are essential in youth football.

Udinese U20 will be frustrated to lose at home after creating enough chances to take something from the match. The result underlines the fine margins in Primavera 2, where efficiency in both boxes often decides the outcome. Venezia leave with confidence, while Udinese must regroup quickly ahead of their next fixture.
