Latina Calcio U20 produced a dominant away performance to beat Spezia U20 5-1 in Campionato Primavera 2 on 17 October 2026, with the visitors controlling large periods and converting their chances ruthlessly. The result stands as one of the most emphatic scorelines of the round and leaves Spezia with plenty to reflect on.

Match overview

Latina set the tone early, pressing Spezia into mistakes and moving the ball quickly in the final third. The visitors opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes and never really looked back. Spezia struggled to cope with Latina’s movement and intensity, and by half-time the away side had built a commanding lead. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Latina adding further goals before Spezia grabbed a consolation.

Key moments

The opening goal came after a sharp turnover in midfield and a clinical finish. Latina doubled their advantage soon after, and a third goal before the break effectively put the game beyond Spezia’s reach. The visitors added two more in the second half, including a well-taken effort from outside the box. Spezia’s consolation goal was a rare bright moment on a difficult afternoon, but it did little to change the outcome.

Tactical story

Latina’s pressing structure disrupted Spezia’s attempts to build from the back, forcing long balls and limiting the home side’s ability to sustain possession. When Latina won the ball, they attacked with purpose and numbers, stretching Spezia’s defence repeatedly. Spezia’s back line struggled with the pace of the visitors’ forwards, and their midfield was overrun for long stretches.

Standout performers

Latina’s centre-forward delivered a standout performance, scoring a hat-trick and linking play effectively. The visiting midfield controlled the tempo and won the majority of second balls, while the left-back provided constant support going forward. For Spezia, the goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, and the young substitute who scored the consolation goal showed good composure.

Season impact

The victory is a major confidence boost for Latina Calcio U20 and significantly improves their goal difference in the Campionato Primavera 2 standings. Spezia U20 will need to regroup quickly after a heavy home defeat, with defensive organisation and ball retention likely to be central themes in training. Latina, meanwhile, will look to use this result as a platform for a strong run of form.
