Renate AC U19 edged Pro Vercelli U20 2-1 in a competitive Italian Campionato Primavera 2 fixture on 24 October 2026. The visitors led early, survived a strong response after the break, and found a late winning goal to take all three points from a match that was closely contested throughout.

Renate start brightly

Renate AC U19 began with purpose and were rewarded in the 17th minute. A patient passing move drew Pro Vercelli’s midfield toward the right side of the pitch, creating space in the centre. The ball was switched quickly, and a first-time finish from the edge of the area gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Pro Vercelli responded well to going behind. They increased their pressing intensity and forced Renate into several rushed clearances. The equaliser arrived in the 49th minute, shortly after the restart, when a well-timed run into the box was found by a low cross and converted from close range.

Key moments

• 17th minute: Renate AC U19 score the opening goal after a swift switch of play.
• 49th minute: Pro Vercelli U20 equalise with a close-range finish after a strong start to the second half.
• 64th minute: Renate hit the post from a free kick as the game opens up.
• 76th minute: Renate score the winner with a composed finish inside the penalty area.

The closing stages were tense, with both sides pushing for a decisive goal. Renate found it in the 76th minute after winning the ball back in midfield and attacking quickly. A clever pass split the defence, and the forward kept his composure to slot the ball past the goalkeeper. Pro Vercelli pressed for a second equaliser but could not create another clear chance.

Tactical story

Renate’s ability to transition from defence to attack was the difference. They defended in a narrow shape, inviting Pro Vercelli to play wide before closing down the space near the touchline. Once they regained possession, they looked to move the ball forward quickly through the half-spaces, where Pro Vercelli were often slow to close.

Pro Vercelli had more possession in the second half but struggled to break down a disciplined back line. Their equaliser came from a moment of quality rather than sustained pressure, and after that they were unable to capitalise on the momentum. Renate’s midfield adjusted well, dropping deeper to protect the central area and forcing Pro Vercelli into less dangerous crosses.

Standout performers and season impact

Renate’s attacking midfielder was central to the win, linking play and providing the pass that led to the decisive goal. The visiting goalkeeper also deserves credit for a composed display, dealing well with crosses and making one important save at 1-1. For Pro Vercelli, the striker’s movement and hold-up play were positive signs, but the team lacked a final spark in the last 15 minutes.

The 2-1 result gives Renate AC U19 an important away victory in the Campionato Primavera 2 and strengthens their confidence in tight matches. Pro Vercelli U20 will be disappointed to take nothing from a game in which they competed well, but the performance offered enough to suggest they can respond quickly in their next fixture.
