Pescara Youth 5-2 Ascoli U19: seven-goal thriller as Pescara run riot at home

Pescara Youth produced one of the standout attacking displays of the Campionato Primavera 2 season on 10 October 2026, dismantling Ascoli U19 in a 5-2 victory that combined ruthless finishing with some delightfully fluent football. The hosts were ahead early and never looked like surrendering control, even as Ascoli twice threatened to make a contest of it.

Match overview

From the first whistle, Pescara played on the front foot. Their wingers hugged the touchline to stretch Ascoli's back line, the full-backs overlapped at every opportunity, and the midfield pushed high to win the ball back quickly. Ascoli, by contrast, struggled to settle, conceding possession cheaply in their own half and inviting wave after wave of pressure.

By the time the dust settled, Pescara had scored five — a tally that reflected both their quality in the final third and Ascoli's difficulties in tracking runners into the box. The visitors' two goals were no more than consolation, albeit well-taken ones that briefly kept the game alive.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Pescara broke the deadlock with a slick move down the right, finished first-time at the near post.
• Quick double: A second followed soon after from a corner, the ball bundled home from close range as Ascoli failed to clear.
• Ascoli respond: The visitors pulled one back before the break with a composed finish after a rare lapse in the Pescara defence.
• Second-half surge: Pescara restored their two-goal cushion almost immediately after the restart and then added two more in a devastating spell.
• Late consolation: Ascoli grabbed a second goal late on, a reward for their persistence on an otherwise punishing evening.

Tactical story

This was a masterclass in vertical football. Pescara's attacking patterns were built on quick combinations in wide areas followed by early deliveries into the box, and Ascoli's centre-backs were repeatedly pulled apart by the movement of the front three. The hosts' midfield won the majority of duels in the middle third, which allowed them to sustain attacks and pin Ascoli deep for long periods.

Ascoli's problems were largely structural. Playing a high line against such quick forwards proved costly, and once they fell behind they were forced to commit more players forward, which only increased the space available to Pescara on the break. Their two goals showed there is genuine quality in the squad, but the defensive organisation will need serious attention.

Standout performers

Pescara's centre-forward was the game's outstanding individual, leading the line with intelligent movement and clinical finishing. The two wide players were constant menaces, combining for multiple goals and assists, while the deep-lying midfielder controlled the tempo with simple, effective distribution. For Ascoli, the goalkeeper was left badly exposed and still made a string of saves, and the young striker who scored their second goal showed composure beyond his years.

What it means for the table

Three points and a five-goal haul give Pescara Youth a significant boost in Girone B, strengthening their goal difference and reinforcing their credentials as one of the division's most dangerous attacking sides. For Ascoli U19, a heavy away defeat is a setback that leaves them with work to do, particularly defensively.

The message from this match is clear: when Pescara click in the final third, they are capable of blowing opponents away. If they can maintain that level of ruthlessness while tightening up at the back, they will be a difficult team to stop this season.
