Venezia F.C. Youth claimed a 2-1 away victory over FC Sudtirol Youth in the Italian Campionato Primavera 2 on Saturday evening, using clinical finishing and disciplined defending to secure all three points. Venezia led for much of the match and withstood a late surge from the hosts to close out an important result on the road.

Match overview

Venezia started with a measured approach, allowing Sudtirol to have the ball in harmless areas while looking to strike on the counter. That plan worked well in the first half, as Venezia took the lead midway through the opening period and then doubled their advantage shortly after the interval. Sudtirol pulled a goal back with just over 10 minutes remaining and pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Venezia’s defense held firm under late pressure.

Key moments

• 27th minute: Venezia F.C. Youth took the lead when Marco Bellini finished a fast break with a composed strike into the corner.
• 61st minute: Venezia doubled the advantage as Andrea Costa arrived late in the box to convert a low cross.
• 78th minute: FC Sudtirol Youth halved the deficit with a header from a set piece, giving the home crowd renewed hope.
• 86th minute: Sudtirol forced a goalmouth scramble, but Venezia’s goalkeeper reacted well to smother the ball.
• 90+4 minutes: Venezia cleared a final long throw into the box to secure the win.

Tactical story

Venezia’s compact mid-block was the key to their success. They denied Sudtirol space in central areas and encouraged crosses from wider positions, where the center-backs could defend comfortably. Once possession was regained, Venezia moved the ball forward quickly, often targeting the space behind Sudtirol’s advanced full-backs. Sudtirol improved after halftime and caused problems from set pieces, but their inability to create clear chances from open play limited their comeback attempt.

Standout players

Bellini’s opening goal set the tone for Venezia, and his movement in behind kept Sudtirol’s defense uncertain. Costa’s late arrival in the box for the second goal highlighted the team’s attacking depth, while the goalkeeper made a crucial save late on. For FC Sudtirol Youth, the set-piece goal was a reward for their persistence, and their midfield continued to work hard until the final whistle, but the hosts lacked the final touch in key moments.

Season impact

The win gives Venezia F.C. Youth an important away result in the Campionato Primavera 2 and strengthens their position in the standings. Away victories in youth football can be difficult to come by, and the manner of this performance—leading early, absorbing pressure, and managing the closing stages—will please the coaching staff. FC Sudtirol Youth will view the match as a learning experience after a spirited late response, but they will need to convert more of their possession into clear chances in upcoming fixtures.
