Cittadella Youth and Renate AC U19 played out a 1-1 draw in the Italian Campionato Primavera 2 on October 10, 2026, a result that kept both sides in the thick of the youth league’s mid-table battle. Cittadella Youth looked the more polished side for long stretches, but Renate AC U19 showed the resilience that has become their trademark in the Primavera 2 campaign.

Match overview

Played at Cittadella’s youth ground, the contest followed a familiar pattern: the home side dictated possession, while Renate sat compact and looked to spring forward on the counter. Cittadella Youth created the clearer chances in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Tommaso Basso, who finished calmly after a well-worked move down the right. Renate AC U19 grew into the game after the break and found their equalizer through Andrea Colombo, whose low strike beat the goalkeeper at the near post.

The draw means both teams continue to chase consistency in the Campionato Primavera 2 standings. For Cittadella Youth, it was a case of two points dropped after controlling large spells. For Renate AC U19, it was another sign of their ability to compete against stronger academy sides.

• 12th minute: Cittadella Youth’s first warning shot, as a curling effort from the edge of the box forced a smart save from the Renate goalkeeper.

Tactical story

Cittadella Youth set up in a 4-3-3 and tried to overload the flanks, with their full-backs pushing high to pin Renate back. The approach worked well in the first half, especially when their midfielders could combine quickly in the half-spaces. However, Renate AC U19 adjusted after the interval, dropping their wingers deeper and forcing Cittadella into slower, more predictable build-up play.

Renate’s equalizer came from exactly the kind of transition moment they had been waiting for. A loose pass in midfield allowed them to break with numbers, and Colombo’s composed finish capped a much-improved second-half display. Cittadella’s late pressure produced corners and half-chances, but Renate defended their box with discipline.

Standout players

Tommaso Basso was Cittadella Youth’s most dangerous attacker, linking play and timing his runs into the penalty area. In midfield, Matteo Ferrarin kept the home side ticking with crisp passing and intelligent positioning. For Renate AC U19, Andrea Colombo was the obvious hero, while centre-back Luca Brambilla made several important clearances under late pressure.

Primavera 2 table impact

The point leaves Cittadella Youth still in touch with the upper half of the Campionato Primavera 2 table, though they will feel they should have converted their territorial dominance into three points. Renate AC U19, meanwhile, add another valuable away point to their tally and will take confidence from a disciplined defensive performance. Both sides remain in the hunt for a stronger finish as the youth season progresses.
