Catanzaro U19 came from behind to beat Pisa Youth 2-1 in the Italian Campionato Primavera 2 on 24 October 2026. Pisa struck first, but Catanzaro responded with a strong finish to the first half and a well-worked winning goal in the second, securing a hard-fought home victory.

Pisa take an early lead

Pisa Youth started the match with confidence and moved the ball neatly through midfield. Their reward came in the 18th minute when a quick combination on the left opened up space inside the penalty area. A low shot was directed beyond the goalkeeper, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage and silencing the home crowd.

Catanzaro needed time to find their rhythm, but they gradually began to press higher and force Pisa into mistakes. The equaliser arrived in the 41st minute after a sustained spell of possession. A cross from the right was only half-cleared, and Catanzaro’s midfielder struck the loose ball through a crowd and into the net.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Pisa Youth take the lead with a low finish after a neat move on the left.
• 41st minute: Catanzaro U19 equalise with a composed finish from the edge of the box.
• 55th minute: Pisa threaten from a counter-attack but are denied by a strong defensive block.
• 68th minute: Catanzaro score the winner after a flowing move down the right.

The winning goal was the highlight of the second half. Catanzaro worked the ball patiently before releasing their right-back into space. A low cross was met with a smart first-time finish, and the home side had the lead for the first time in the match. Pisa pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but found Catanzaro’s defence difficult to break down.

Tactical story

Catanzaro’s response after conceding was impressive. They increased the intensity of their press, won more second balls in midfield, and began to pin Pisa back in their own half. The equaliser just before half-time was crucial, as it allowed the home side to reset mentally and approach the second half with renewed belief.

Pisa Youth remained dangerous on the break and had moments where they threatened to restore their lead. However, their final pass was often slightly heavy, and Catanzaro’s centre-backs defended the penalty area well. As the game wore on, Pisa’s midfield dropped deeper, and Catanzaro took advantage by committing more players forward in search of the winner.

Standout performers and season impact

Catanzaro’s right-sided defender was excellent throughout, combining defensive discipline with attacking intent and providing the assist for the winning goal. The central midfielder who scored the equaliser also controlled the tempo well, linking defence and attack with intelligent passing.

The 2-1 win is a valuable result for Catanzaro U19 in the Campionato Primavera 2 and shows their ability to recover from setbacks within a match. For Pisa Youth, the defeat will be frustrating after a promising start, but their first-half performance demonstrated the quality they possess. Both sides will take important lessons into their next fixtures.
