Avellino set the tone early and never truly relinquished control. By the time Latina found a response, the home team had already built a two-goal cushion, and a late third sealed a deserved victory.

Match overview

Avellino U19 started brightly, pressing Latina's defenders and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The opening goal arrived in the 12th minute when a quick interchange on the edge of the box released the striker, who finished low into the far corner. The home side doubled their lead in the 34th minute, capitalising on a loose pass and converting with a composed first-time strike.

Latina Calcio U20 improved after the break, pushing more players forward and winning a series of set pieces. They pulled one back in the 61st minute with a well-taken header from a corner. That goal briefly unsettled Avellino, but the home side regained their rhythm and sealed the points in the 78th minute with a counterattacking goal.

Key moments

The first goal was a model of Avellino's pressing game: a misplaced pass was intercepted, the ball was moved wide, and the cutback was converted at the near post. The second came from a similar source, with Latina struggling to play out from the back.

Latina's goal gave them hope, and for a ten-minute spell they looked the more likely side to score next. Avellino's goalkeeper made a strong save to deny an equaliser, and that proved the turning point. The third goal arrived on the break, with Avellino's winger racing clear and squaring for a simple finish.

Tactical story

Avellino U19 lined up in a 4-3-3, with their wingers pinning Latina's full-backs and their midfield trio winning second balls. The high press was aggressive but well organised, often forcing Latina into long passes that Avellino's centre-backs comfortably dealt with.

Latina Calcio U20 used a 4-2-3-1 and tried to build through the middle. They found some joy after switching to a more direct approach, but their defensive errors proved costly. Avellino's ability to transition from defence to attack in seconds was the difference between the teams.
