Full-time: Bnei Yehuda 2-1 Kiryat Gat

Bnei Yehuda secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kiryat Gat in the Israel Leumit League on October 2, 2026, at the Hatikva Neighborhood Stadium in Tel Aviv. A late winner settled a competitive match that had swung back and forth, giving Bnei Yehuda an important three points in their push for promotion.

Match overview

Bnei Yehuda started brightly, pressing Kiryat Gat high and forcing mistakes in the visitors' build-up. The home side's midfield trio controlled the tempo, switching play from side to side and creating space for the full-backs. Kiryat Gat grew into the contest after the opening 20 minutes, using quick counter-attacks to test Bnei Yehuda's defensive shape.

The second half was more open. Kiryat Gat equalised early in the period and briefly looked the more likely team to score again, but Bnei Yehuda regained control through substitutions and set-piece pressure. The winning goal arrived late, sparking wild celebrations and leaving Kiryat Gat to rue missed chances.

Key moments

• 18th minute – Bnei Yehuda take the lead: A flowing move down the right ended with a low cross that was converted from close range by Roei Zikri.
• 54th minute – Kiryat Gat equalise: A quick break caught Bnei Yehuda's defence out of shape, and Amir Agayev finished neatly past the goalkeeper.
• 72nd minute – Bnei Yehuda denied: The home side's striker was played through one-on-one, but the Kiryat Gat goalkeeper made a crucial save with his legs.
• 82nd minute – The winner: Substitute Idan Golan rose highest from a corner and headed into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

Tactical story

Bnei Yehuda lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and looked to dominate possession through central midfield rotations. Kiryat Gat defended in a mid-block and tried to spring forward quickly when they won the ball. That approach worked well in the second half, especially after their equaliser, but Bnei Yehuda's greater depth from the bench proved decisive.

The home side's late pressure was built on set pieces and second balls. Kiryat Gat struggled to clear their lines as the game entered its final 15 minutes, and the winning goal came from exactly that kind of scenario. It was a pragmatic victory, but one that underlined Bnei Yehuda's promotion credentials.

Standout players

Roei Zikri was a constant threat for Bnei Yehuda, combining sharp movement with an important opening goal. Idan Golan changed the game after coming off the bench, scoring the winner and adding energy in the final third. For Kiryat Gat, Amir Agayev impressed with his direct running and composed equaliser, while their goalkeeper kept the score level with several important saves.

Leumit League table impact

The win strengthens Bnei Yehuda's position in the upper half of the Israel Leumit League standings and keeps them firmly in the promotion conversation. Kiryat Gat remain in need of points after a narrow defeat on the road, though their performance offered encouragement. With the race for promotion and playoff places tightening, every result in the Leumit League is beginning to carry extra weight.
