Sepahan delivered a ruthless attacking display on Sunday evening, thrashing Mes Shahr Babak FC 4-0 in the Iran Pro League. The hosts were dominant from the first whistle and turned their superiority into goals with a clinical first-half performance that effectively ended the contest before the break.

Match overview

Sepahan set the tone early with high pressing and quick ball circulation. Mes Shahr Babak FC struggled to cope with the pace of the home side's attacks and were forced into repeated defensive errors. Sepahan led comfortably at half-time and added further goals after the restart to complete a convincing home victory.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Sepahan opened the scoring after a flowing move down the right. The cross was met with a composed finish inside the penalty area.
• 28th minute: The lead was doubled when a misplaced pass was intercepted and punished immediately with a low shot into the corner.
• 54th minute: A third goal arrived from a set piece, with a powerful header beating the goalkeeper.
• 78th minute: Sepahan completed the scoring with a late counter-attack, finishing calmly one-on-one.

Tactical story

Sepahan's midfield controlled the tempo and repeatedly found space between the lines. Mes Shahr Babak FC tried to defend in a compact block, but the hosts stretched them with wide runs and quick combinations. Once Sepahan scored the opening goal, the away side had to step higher, which only created more room for the league's more established attacking unit. The second half was managed professionally, with Sepahan keeping possession and avoiding unnecessary risks.

Standout performers

The Sepahan forward line was sharp and efficient, with two players involved in multiple goals. The midfield anchor also deserves credit for winning second balls and starting attacks quickly. For Mes Shahr Babak FC, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score from becoming even more one-sided, but the defence struggled to contain Sepahan's movement.

What it means for the table

This was exactly the kind of authoritative home win Sepahan needed as they look to stay near the top of the Iran Pro League standings. The three points and the clean sheet will boost confidence, while the goal difference could prove useful later in the season. For Mes Shahr Babak FC, it is a tough lesson about the pace and precision required against the league's stronger sides.
