Full-time: Aluminium Arak FC 0-0 Zob Ahan

Aluminium Arak FC and Zob Ahan played out a tightly contested 0-0 draw in the Iran Pro League at the Imam Khomeini Stadium in Arak on Friday, October 23, 2026. The hosts produced a disciplined defensive display, while Zob Ahan controlled long spells of possession without finding the final pass needed to break the deadlock. The result adds a point to both clubs’ league tallies and leaves each side with mixed feelings after a match that was short on goals but rich in tactical tension.

Match overview

The Iran Pro League fixture set up an intriguing contrast in approach. Aluminium Arak FC sat deep in a compact block, looking to deny space between the lines and spring forward through quick transitions. Zob Ahan, by contrast, were the more proactive side in possession, circulating the ball through midfield and trying to draw the home team out of shape. The visitors enjoyed the larger share of the ball, but clear-cut chances were rare in a first half defined by careful defending and midfield congestion.

Aluminium’s best moments came from wide areas and set pieces, with the home side prioritising defensive security over extended attacking commitment. Zob Ahan advanced patiently but often found themselves forced sideways rather than forward. The match remained balanced at the interval, and the second half followed a similar pattern: Zob Ahan pushed higher, Aluminium held their line, and the decisive final touch never arrived.

Key moments

• Early save: Zob Ahan created the first meaningful opening after working the ball into the box, but the Aluminium Arak goalkeeper stood firm to deny a low effort toward the near post.
• Offside flag: A close offside call interrupted Zob Ahan’s best spell of first-half pressure, denying the visitors a chance to turn their possession into a lead.
• Second-half pressure: After the break, Zob Ahan moved the ball more quickly and forced Aluminium deeper, but the home defence blocked several attempts from the edge of the area.
• Late chance: Aluminium nearly stole all three points on the counter, only for a last-ditch defensive intervention to prevent a shot from inside the box.

Tactical story

Aluminium Arak FC’s game plan was built on compactness. The back line stayed narrow, the midfield protected the central corridor, and Zob Ahan were repeatedly directed toward wide areas where crosses could be defended. That approach limited the visitors’ access to high-quality shooting positions, even as Zob Ahan dictated the rhythm of the game. The home side’s discipline was evident in their willingness to defend in numbers and wait for turnovers.

Zob Ahan’s challenge was one of penetration rather than possession. They moved the ball well enough to reach the final third, but the tempo dropped too often near the box, allowing Aluminium to reset. When the visitors did accelerate, they looked dangerous; when they slowed down, the home defence had time to recover. The 0-0 scoreline reflected that balance: Zob Ahan had more control, Aluminium had the more organised defensive structure, and neither side did enough to claim the win.

Standout performers

The Aluminium Arak goalkeeper was one of the key figures of the match, handling crosses confidently and making the saves required to preserve the clean sheet. The home centre-backs also deserve credit for their positioning and composure under pressure, especially during Zob Ahan’s strongest spells after the interval. In midfield, Aluminium’s captain worked tirelessly to close gaps and launch counterattacks.

For Zob Ahan, the deep-lying midfielder was central to their control, repeatedly recycling possession and switching play. The visitors’ wide players offered threat in one-on-one situations, but the final ball too often lacked the precision needed to unlock a well-drilled defence. It was a performance that underlined Zob Ahan’s quality in buildup play and their need for a sharper cutting edge in the final third.

Iran Pro League impact

The draw gives each side one point in the Iran Pro League standings and keeps both clubs in the tightly packed mid-table conversation. For Aluminium Arak FC, the clean sheet is a positive foundation, particularly against an opponent capable of controlling the ball for long periods. For Zob Ahan, the result will feel like two points dropped after a game in which they saw more of the ball and spent more time in the attacking half.

Over the course of the season, matches like this can shape momentum. Aluminium will take confidence from their defensive resilience, but they will also know that more goal threat is needed if they are to climb the table consistently. Zob Ahan, meanwhile, will focus on turning possession into clear chances and improving the
