Shahin Bandar Anzali claimed a convincing 2-0 home victory over Saipa in the Iran Azadegan League on Sunday, 4 October 2026. Two second-half goals secured all three points for the hosts in a match that boosted their promotion ambitions.

Match Overview

Played at the Shahin Stadium in Bandar Anzali, the home side controlled the game from start to finish. Saipa, a historically significant club in Iranian football, struggled to impose themselves and were undone by two well-worked goals after the interval. The win extends Shahin's strong home form and leaves Saipa with questions to answer on the road.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Shahin's first big chance, a header from a corner, is cleared off the line.
• 39th minute: Saipa's best moment of the first half, a shot from distance, whistles just wide.
• 52nd minute: Shahin break the deadlock. A quick one-two on the edge of the box opens space for a precise low finish.
• 74th minute: Shahin double the lead. A driving run from midfield ends with a powerful shot into the roof of the net.
• 85th minute: Saipa push forward but are met by a solid defensive block and a comfortable save.

Tactical Story

Shahin Bandar Anzali lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and used width effectively, stretching Saipa's defence with overlapping full-backs. Their midfield duo won the battle in the centre, allowing the attacking players to find pockets of space. Saipa tried to press high but were often bypassed by quick passing. After taking the lead, Shahin dropped deeper and invited pressure, then hit on the counter for the second goal. The clean sheet was built on disciplined positioning and excellent communication at the back.

Standout Performers

The Shahin attacking midfielder was the architect, scoring the opener and assisting the second with a clever pass. The striker who scored the second goal showed great power and precision. In defence, the centre-back pairing was outstanding, limiting Saipa to very few clear chances. Saipa's goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, but his teammates offered little going forward.

Season Impact

With this 2-0 win, Shahin Bandar Anzali climb the Azadegan League standings and reinforce their credentials as promotion contenders. Saipa, meanwhile, remain mid-table and will need to improve their away form if they are to challenge for a return to the Persian Gulf Pro League. The head-to-head record between the two sides now favours Shahin in recent meetings. Next up, Shahin will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture, while Saipa must regroup quickly.
