Santa Clara continued their strong pre‑season form with a convincing 3‑0 victory over fellow Portuguese Primeira Liga side FC Arouca. Played at Santa Clara’s training ground in the Azores, the match served as a valuable workout for two teams preparing for the new top‑flight season.

Fast Start Decides the Match

Santa Clara came flying out of the blocks and took the lead inside the first five minutes. A long ball over the top caught the Arouca defence napping, and the home forward raced through to slot home with composure. The early goal set the tone for a first half dominated by the islanders.

The third goal arrived in the 58th minute after a flowing move that ended with a low cross being turned home from close range. Arouca pushed forward in search of a consolation but were denied by solid defending and good goalkeeping.

Santa Clara’s fitness levels looked impressive, and they were able to see out the match comfortably. Despite the scoreline, FC Arouca showed glimpses of quality and will benefit from the minutes as they continue to build chemistry.
