Mountjoy United vs Dungannon Swifts – International Club Friendly, July 15, 2026

Dungannon Swifts delivered a dominant attacking display, thrashing Mountjoy United 5-0 in a one-sided pre-season friendly. The Northern Irish side were in complete control from the first whistle, showcasing sharp movement and clinical finishing.

The scoring started early. In the 8th minute, a swift counter-attack saw Dungannon's right winger cut back for the striker to slot home from close range. Mountjoy struggled to cope with the pace and movement, and by the 25th minute the lead had doubled: a corner was flicked on at the near post and headed in at the back post.

Dungannon added a third just before half-time when a through ball split the Mountjoy defence and the forward rounded the goalkeeper to make it 3-0. The second half followed a similar pattern with Mountjoy showing little resistance. A deflected shot from distance made it 4-0 in the 62nd minute, and the fifth came from a penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box.

Mountjoy United, a lower-league side, will use this heavy defeat as a learning experience as they continue their pre-season preparations. Dungannon Swifts will be pleased with their fluid attacking play and the clean sheet.
