AFC Fylde Run Riot Against Longridge Town in Pre-Season Friendly

National League side AFC Fylde made light work of Longridge Town, winning 3-0 in a pre-season friendly played on 22 July 2026. The match kicked off at 02:30 local time at the Longridge Recreation Ground and saw Fylde’s superior class shine through from start to finish.

Longridge Town, who compete in the North West Counties League (tier 10 of English football), were always going to be up against it. Fylde used the game to give minutes to several first-team players as well as trialists.

Clinical Finishing

Fylde dominated possession from the first whistle. They took the lead in the 21st minute when striker Nick Haughton collected a pass from Danny Philliskirk and fired low into the corner. The second goal came just before half-time: a header from centre-back Harry Davis from a corner.

The visitors continued to press in the second half and sealed the victory in the 68th minute. Substitute Tom Walker cut in from the right and unleashed a powerful shot that beat the Longridge goalkeeper.

Defensive Solidity

Fylde’s defence, marshalled by Alex Whitmore and Harry Davis, barely gave Longridge a sniff. The hosts’ best chance came in the 55th minute when a long-range effort sailed just over the bar. Fylde goalkeeper Chris Neal had a quiet afternoon but made one sharp save in the second half to preserve the clean sheet.
