Long Eaton United and Redditch United played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a pre-season friendly that showcased attacking intent from both sides. The fixture gave managers plenty to ponder as they assess their squads ahead of the new season.

End-to-End First Half

Redditch United took the lead inside 10 minutes when a long ball over the top caught the Long Eaton defence napping, and a forward slotted home with ease. The hosts responded well and equalised just before the half-hour mark via a well-struck free kick that curled over the wall and into the top corner.

Long Eaton then took the lead early in the second half. A corner was flicked on at the near post, and a defender bundled the ball over the line from close range. Redditch, however, refused to give in. They pushed forward and earned a deserved equaliser with 15 minutes to go when a low cross was turned in at the far post.

Late Chances

Both sides had opportunities to snatch a late winner. Long Eaton saw a header cleared off the line, while Redditch struck the post in stoppage time. The draw was ultimately a fair reflection of an open, competitive match.
