Köln Amateure and Engers played out a dour 0–0 stalemate at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion in a match that offered few clear-cut chances. Both sides used the International Club Friendly fixture to experiment with formations and give minutes to fringe players.

Köln Am, the reserve side of 1. FC Köln, dominated possession as expected, but Engers’ compact defensive block frustrated the hosts. Engers defended deep and looked to hit on the counter, with striker Timo Becker forcing the only save of the first half with a header that went straight at Köln goalkeeper Julian Roloff.

The second half saw a series of substitutions break the rhythm, and neither team was able to generate sustained pressure. Köln Am’s best opening came in the 78th minute when a cross from the left found Luca Trevisan, but his close-range shot was blocked by a last-ditch tackle from Engers center-back Marvin Breuer.

For Köln Am, the clean sheet is a positive takeaway, while Engers can be proud of a disciplined defensive display against a side from a higher level. Both teams will look to build on this foundation in their remaining preseason matches.
