Andorra CF and Sabadell played out a goalless draw in an international club friendly on 2 August 2026, with both sides using the fixture to fine-tune tactics and give valuable minutes to squad players ahead of the competitive season. The 0-0 scoreline at the 02:00 kick-off reflected a cautious afternoon of football, where preparation outweighed the pursuit of goals.

Pre-season priorities

For a club like Sabadell, friendlies against lower-division opposition such as Andorra CF are a staple of pre-season planning. Managerial staff typically rotate heavily, assess fitness levels, and experiment with formations. This match was no different, with multiple substitutions breaking the rhythm in the second half and preventing any sustained attacking fluidity.

Andorra CF, meanwhile, will take encouragement from a solid defensive display against a side that plays at a higher level of the Spanish football pyramid. Keeping a clean sheet, even in a friendly, builds confidence and gives the coaching staff a clearer picture of their defensive unit’s resilience.

Limited chances, encouraging signs

• Defensive organisation: Both back lines were well marshalled, cutting out crosses and blocking shots before they reached the goalkeepers.
• Midfield battles: The central areas were congested, with neither side able to consistently play through the press.
• Second-half rotations: A flurry of substitutions disrupted any potential momentum, a common feature of pre-season friendlies.

While fans may have hoped for goals, the real winners were the coaching staffs, who received a clear audit of their squads’ current physical and tactical state.

What comes next

For Sabadell, these friendlies are stepping stones toward league action, sharpening match sharpness and building partnerships across the pitch. Andorra CF will also view the clean sheet as a solid foundation, even if the attacking output needs improvement. International club friendlies may not carry silverware, but they offer invaluable evidence for the decisions that shape an entire season.
