Anorthosis Famagusta FC claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Enosis Neon Paralimniou in an International Club Friendly on October 4, 2026. The match, played at the Paralimni Stadium, was decided by a single second-half goal and served as a useful workout for two Cypriot sides looking to sharpen their match fitness and tactical shape.

While the result will not count toward any league table, the contest was competitive and physical, with both teams showing spells of quality in possession and a clear desire to avoid defeat.

Match Overview

Anorthosis controlled more of the ball in the opening half, using their midfield to dictate the tempo and switching play from side to side. Enosis Neon Paralimniou defended in a compact block and looked to hit on the counter, but their final pass often let them down in promising moments.

The only goal arrived in the 63rd minute. Andreas Vasiliou found space at the edge of the box, took a touch to steady himself, and curled a low shot beyond the goalkeeper. It was a moment of quality that separated the teams on an otherwise balanced evening.

Tactical Story

Anorthosis lined up with a possession-oriented approach, often building through the middle before looking for overloads on the flanks. Their full-backs pushed high, allowing the wingers to drift inside and create numerical advantages. Enosis responded by dropping into a 4-4-2 mid-block, which limited space centrally but left them vulnerable to quick switches of play.

After taking the lead, Anorthosis managed the game well. They slowed the tempo, kept the ball in wide areas, and forced Enosis to chase. The home side pushed more players forward late on, but Anorthosis’s defensive line held firm and dealt with crosses comfortably.

Standout Players

Andreas Vasiliou was the match-winner, showing excellent composure for the only goal. Anorthosis’s central defenders were also impressive, winning aerial duels and stepping out to intercept passes. In midfield, their captain kept the team organised and ensured the tempo remained under control.

For Enosis Neon Paralimniou, the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the deficit to one. Their left winger was a bright spark on the counter, repeatedly carrying the ball into dangerous areas, though the final product was missing.

Friendly Impact

For Anorthosis Famagusta FC, the 1-0 win provides a confidence boost and another clean sheet to build on. For Enosis Neon Paralimniou, the performance offered positives in defence and transition, but also highlighted the need for greater cutting edge in the final third. As a friendly, the result matters less than the minutes gained, yet the competitive edge was clear throughout.
