Nongkseh SCC produced a dominant away performance to defeat Sawmer 3-0 in the Indian Shillong Premier League on 28 September 2026. The match, which kicked off at 17:30, was decided by Nongkseh’s clinical finishing and midfield control, leaving Sawmer still searching for consistency in the early part of the campaign.

Match Overview

Nongkseh SCC started on the front foot and never really relinquished control. Their slick passing and intelligent movement pulled Sawmer’s defence out of shape repeatedly, and the opening goal arrived inside the first ten minutes. Sawmer tried to respond, but they struggled to keep possession and were often reduced to hopeful long balls.

The second goal before half-time effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture. Nongkseh added a third in the second half to complete a comprehensive victory, while Sawmer’s frustrations were summed up by a series of misplaced passes and a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Key Moments

• 9′ – Nongkseh take the lead: Batskhem Lyngdoh latched onto a defence-splitting pass and finished confidently past the goalkeeper.
• 34′ – Doubling the advantage: Lyngdoh turned provider, squaring the ball for Ronald Kharshiing to tap in from close range.
• 67′ – Third goal seals it: Lyngdoh completed his brace with a powerful header from a corner, putting the result beyond doubt.
• 82′ – Sawmer’s best chance: A rare break forward ended with a shot flashing wide of the post.

Tactical Story

Nongkseh lined up in an adventurous 4-3-3, with their midfield trio dominating the centre of the park. Their high defensive line compressed the space and forced Sawmer into rushed decisions. The wingers hugged the touchline, creating width and allowing the full-backs to overlap, which repeatedly stretched the Sawmer back four.

Sawmer set up in a 4-4-2 but were overrun in midfield. Their two central midfielders struggled to track the runs of Nongkseh’s advanced players, and the defence was left exposed far too often. When Sawmer did win the ball, they lacked the passing quality to mount sustained attacks, and their forwards were isolated for long periods.

Standout Players

Batskhem Lyngdoh was the undisputed man of the match, scoring twice and assisting the other. His movement and finishing were a constant menace. Ronald Kharshiing also impressed with his energy and link-up play, while Nongkseh’s goalkeeper was rarely tested but commanded his area well. For Sawmer, goalkeeper Pynshai Marbaniang made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat, and defender Donboklang Syiemlieh tried to organise a beleaguered back line.

Table and Season Impact

With this result, Nongkseh SCC climb the Shillong Premier League standings, strengthening their early-season momentum and boosting goal difference. Sawmer remain in the lower half of the table and will need to address their defensive vulnerabilities quickly if they are to climb away from trouble. The Shillong Premier League, one of the premier football competitions in Meghalaya, continues to provide a platform for local talent, and Nongkseh’s performance will be noted by the sides above them.

Nongkseh next face a tough test against Laitumkhrah, while Sawmer will look to regroup when they take on Mylliem. Both sides will know that consistency is key in a league where every point matters.
