However, they were unable to convert their territorial advantage into a goal. Mizoram Police FC defended resolutely and struck the decisive blow against the run of play, scoring what turned out to be the winner before half-time. The second half saw Lawngtlai push harder for an equaliser, but the visitors held on for a clean sheet.

Tactical Story

MLS FC Lawngtlai set up with a possession-based approach, looking to build from the back and use their wingers to stretch the Mizoram Police defence. They saw plenty of the ball but struggled to break down a compact and disciplined opponent. Mizoram Police FC, by contrast, were content to sit in a mid-block and spring forward on the counter, a strategy that yielded the only goal of the game. Their midfield pressing was particularly effective in the first half, disrupting Lawngtlai's rhythm. In the second half, Lawngtlai switched to a more direct style, but the Police defenders stood firm.

Standout Players

The Mizoram Police FC goalscorer was sharp throughout, making intelligent runs and linking play in the final third. The goalkeeper was the undisputed hero of the match, making several crucial saves, including a reflex stop in the dying moments. For MLS FC Lawngtlai, the central midfielder worked tirelessly to create opportunities, while their left-back was a constant outlet going forward. The Lawngtlai captain led by example at the back, but his side ultimately lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

What the Result Means

This narrow victory lifts Mizoram Police FC up the Mizoram Premier League table and extends their positive run of form. For MLS FC Lawngtlai, the defeat is a frustrating setback, especially given the amount of possession they enjoyed.
