Key Moments

Mizoram Police FC made a dream start in the 12th minute. A quick counter-attack down the right caught Aizawl’s defence out of shape, and the Police forward finished calmly past the advancing goalkeeper to send the home supporters into raptures. It was a goal that underlined the Police side’s growing reputation for organised, direct football.

Aizawl FC responded with patience rather than panic. They controlled possession for much of the first half and found their equaliser in the 39th minute. A clever through-ball split the Police defence, and Aizawl’s striker rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into an empty net. The goal changed the momentum of the match just before half-time.

The second half was a tightly fought affair, with both teams creating chances. The decisive moment came in the 74th minute. Aizawl worked the ball down the right flank, and a low cross was met with a first-time finish at the near post. The Police goalkeeper got a hand to it but could not keep the ball out. Mizoram Police pushed hard for an equaliser in the final 15 minutes, but Aizawl’s defence held firm.

Tactical Story

Mizoram Police FC set up in a compact 4-4-2, looking to absorb pressure and strike on the break. Their early goal was a perfect execution of that plan, and for a while they frustrated Aizawl’s midfield by crowding the central areas. However, as the game progressed, their defensive line dropped deeper, allowing Aizawl to sustain attacks.

Aizawl FC used a 4-3-3 formation with fluid front three. Their wide forwards constantly switched positions, dragging Police defenders out of shape. The equaliser came from a central overload, while the winner originated from a wide overlap. Aizawl’s coach made a key substitution in the 65th minute, introducing fresh legs in midfield that helped increase the tempo and ultimately led to the winning goal.

Standout Players

Aizawl FC’s playmaker was the best player on the pitch, dictating the rhythm of the game with precise passing and intelligent movement. He assisted the equaliser and was involved in the build-up to the winner. The Aizawl striker also impressed with his composure in front of goal, while the centre-back made several crucial interceptions in the closing stages.

For Mizoram Police FC, the goalkeeper produced a string of saves to keep his side in the contest, including a superb one-on-one stop in the first half. The goal scorer worked tirelessly up front, but he was often isolated as Aizawl took control of possession. The Police captain led by example in midfield, but the team could not maintain their early intensity for the full 90 minutes.

Season Impact

The win lifts Aizawl FC into a stronger position in the Mizoram Premier League standings, keeping them in contention for the title and a potential qualification spot for national-level competitions. Their away form has been a key factor this season, and this comeback victory will boost confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

Mizoram Police FC remain in the lower half of the table, but their performance showed why they are a dangerous opponent on their home ground. They will need to convert promising starts into full-match results if they are to climb away from the relegation battle. For Aizawl FC, the 2-1 win is another reminder of their quality and their ability to grind out results in difficult away matches.
