Persijap Jepara U20 and PSIS Semarang U20 played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Indonesian U20 Super League on Sunday, 18 October 2026, with both sides twice finding the net in a lively Central Java derby.

The match was played at a high tempo from the first whistle. PSIS Semarang U20 struck first, Persijap Jepara U20 responded before half-time, and the second half delivered two more goals as the game swung from end to end. A late equaliser ensured the points were shared in a fixture that showcased the attacking talent in both squads.

Match overview

PSIS Semarang U20 looked comfortable in possession early on, using quick passing in midfield to create openings. Persijap Jepara U20 were aggressive in their pressing and tried to force mistakes in the visitors’ build-up. That approach left space for PSIS to counter, but it also allowed Persijap to create chances of their own.

After a frantic first half, the second period became a battle of transitions. Both teams committed numbers forward, and the defending became stretched. The equalising goal late in the game was a fitting conclusion to a match that never settled into a slow rhythm.

Key moments

• 14th minute: PSIS Semarang U20 took the lead when Bagas Saputra found space on the edge of the box and placed a low shot into the corner.
• 39th minute: Persijap Jepara U20 equalised through Rizky Pratama, who reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the area and smashed it home.
• 61st minute: PSIS regained the lead when Dimas Aryo converted a cross from the left with a well-timed header.
• 84th minute: Persijap found their second equaliser as Fajar Nugroho finished a quick move down the right, beating the goalkeeper at the near post.
• 90th minute: Both sides had chances to win it in stoppage time, but the final efforts were off target.

Tactical story

Persijap Jepara U20’s pressing created problems for PSIS Semarang U20, especially in the first half. By closing down the centre-backs quickly, Persijap forced several long passes and won possession in promising areas. However, that aggression also left gaps behind the midfield, which PSIS exploited on the counter.

PSIS looked dangerous whenever they could play through the first line of pressure. Their wide players stretched the pitch, and the midfield found pockets of space between Persijap’s lines. The second goal was a good example of that pattern: a patient build-up followed by a decisive cross and a strong header.

Standout performers

Rizky Pratama was Persijap Jepara U20’s most influential player, scoring the first equaliser and constantly testing the PSIS defence with his movement. Fajar Nugroho also impressed, showing composure for the late equaliser. In midfield, Persijap’s captain worked tirelessly to disrupt PSIS’s rhythm.

Bagas Saputra and Dimas Aryo were the key attacking threats for PSIS Semarang U20, each taking their goal well. The PSIS goalkeeper made a couple of important saves in the second half, even though he was eventually beaten by the late equaliser.

What it means

The draw keeps both teams competitive in the Indonesian U20 Super League and highlights the attacking potential in each squad. Persijap Jepara U20 will be pleased with their resilience after twice falling behind, while PSIS Semarang U20 will rue not holding onto their second-half lead. In a derby atmosphere, the point will feel more valuable to the home side, but both coaches will see areas to improve defensively ahead of the next round.
