Persebaya Surabaya U20 produced a ruthless attacking display on 17 October 2026, overwhelming Madura United U20 7-1 in the Indonesian U20 Super League. The visitors were dominant from the early stages and turned a strong first-half performance into a statement result after the break.

Match overview

Persebaya Surabaya U20 set the tone almost immediately, pressing Madura United U20 high and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Their quick passing and movement pulled the home defence out of shape, and the goals followed at regular intervals. Madura United struggled to cope with Persebaya’s intensity and were repeatedly exposed in transition.

By half-time, the contest was already firmly under Persebaya’s control. The second half brought more of the same: Persebaya kept their tempo high, rotated the ball well, and added further goals as Madura’s resistance faded. A late consolation goal gave the home supporters something to cheer, but it did little to change the story of the match.

Key moments

• Persebaya opened the scoring early after a high press forced a mistake in Madura’s defensive third.
• The visitors doubled their lead inside the first half with a flowing move through midfield.
• Persebaya added two more before the break, effectively ending the contest as a competitive fixture.
• Madura United U20 scored a consolation goal after the interval, briefly lifting the home crowd.
• Persebaya responded with a dominant final 30 minutes, adding three more goals to complete the rout.

Tactical story

Persebaya’s success was built on aggressive pressing and quick transitions. They won the ball back high up the pitch, then attacked before Madura could reorganise. The front line’s movement was particularly effective, with wide forwards drifting inside to create space for overlapping runners.

Madura United U20 tried to play out from the back, but Persebaya’s pressure made that approach risky. When Madura went longer, Persebaya’s midfield won the second balls and immediately turned defence into attack. It was a complete performance in terms of intensity, structure, and finishing.

Standout performers

Persebaya’s attacking unit was the clear highlight, with the forward line sharing the goals and causing constant problems with pace and movement. The midfield provided control and creativity, while the defence remained composed despite the occasional Madura counter. Madura’s consolation goal was well taken, but the home side’s defensive organisation struggled throughout against Persebaya’s relentless pressure.

Season impact

The 7-1 victory gives Persebaya Surabaya U20 a major boost in the Indonesian U20 Super League, adding three points and a significant advantage in goal difference. For Madura United U20, it is a result that will require a strong response in training, particularly in defensive transitions and ball retention under pressure. Persebaya’s performance will also serve notice to the rest of the competition about their attacking potential.
