Persita Tangerang U20 secured a narrow 1-0 away win over Java United FC U20 in the Indonesian U20 Super League on 17 October 2026. A single goal settled a tight contest, with Persita’s defensive discipline and game management proving the difference.

Match overview

Java United FC U20 enjoyed more of the ball for long periods but struggled to turn possession into clear chances. Persita Tangerang U20 set up with a compact shape, denied space in central areas, and looked to strike on the counter. The visitors’ patience paid off when they found the breakthrough in the second half.

After taking the lead, Persita dropped deeper and protected their advantage with a disciplined defensive display. Java United pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser, but the final ball was often missing, and Persita’s goalkeeper dealt confidently with the crosses and set pieces that came his way.

• Persita Tangerang U20 scored the decisive goal in the second half after a quick counter-attack.

Tactical story

Persita’s game plan was clear: stay compact, frustrate Java United, and attack quickly when turnovers occurred. Their midfielders screened the back four effectively, forcing Java United to play sideways and backwards. That lack of penetration left the home side with plenty of possession but few high-quality chances.

Java United’s best moments came from wide areas, but Persita’s centre-backs dealt well with deliveries into the box. As the home side committed more players forward after conceding, Persita found space on the break but chose to manage the game rather than chase a second goal.

Standout performers

Persita’s goalkeeper was a key figure in the clean sheet, commanding his area and making an important late save. The defensive unit as a whole deserved credit for limiting Java United’s clear openings. For Java United, the midfield worked hard to maintain pressure, but the attacking line lacked the final touch on an afternoon when chances were at a premium.

Season impact

The 1-0 win gives Persita Tangerang U20 three valuable points and a clean sheet to build on in the Indonesian U20 Super League. Java United FC U20 will be disappointed to take nothing from a game in which they saw plenty of the ball, but the match underlined the importance of converting territorial control into clear chances.
