Habay la Neuve and Sedan Share the Spoils in 1-1 Friendly

Habay la Neuve and French side Sedan played out an evenly matched 1-1 draw on 9 August 2026, in a friendly that offered plenty of entertainment for the neutral. The Belgian hosts opened the scoring in a lively first half, but Sedan responded with a composed equaliser to ensure the match finished level.

The game started at a brisk pace, with Habay la Neuve clearly eager to make home advantage count against their more decorated opponents. Their attacking intent paid off when a well-worked move through the middle caught the Sedan defence off guard, allowing the home side to finish calmly and take a deserved lead. The goal injected energy into the contest, and Sedan were forced to raise their game.

Sedan Hit Back Before Half-Time

Sedad’s response was quick and clinical. After a period of sustained pressure, the French visitors equalised with a confident finish from inside the box, leaving the home goalkeeper little chance. The remainder of the first half saw both teams exchange promising attacks, but neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled before the interval.

After the break, the tempo slowed slightly as both managers introduced several substitutes. Habay la Neuve looked the more likely to find a winner and hit the crossbar late on, but Sedan’s defending was resolute. In the end, the 1-1 scoreline was a fair reflection of a competitive friendly, with both sides gaining valuable minutes as they continue their pre-season preparations.
