Ferencvárosi TC Women were held to a 1-1 draw by Pécsi MFC Women in the Hungary Women’s Division 1 League on 17 October 2026. The home side controlled much of the ball and took an early lead, but Pécs responded with a determined second-half performance and earned a valuable away point.

Ferencváros start on the front foot

Ferencvárosi TC Women began the match with the confidence expected of a side pushing near the top of the table. They moved the ball quickly through midfield, used the wings effectively and created the first clear chances of the game. The opening goal came after a sustained spell of pressure, with Anna Kovács finishing neatly after a cut-back from the right.

Pécsi MFC Women were forced onto the back foot for long periods, but they defended with discipline and grew into the contest. Their goalkeeper made several important saves, and their midfield began to find more space as Ferencváros pushed forward in search of a second goal.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Ferencváros took the lead when Kovács swept home from close range after good work on the right flank.
• 41st minute: Pécs produced their best chance of the first half, but a low shot was saved at the near post.
• 57th minute: Vivien Horváth equalized for Pécs with a clever finish after a quick counter-attack.
• 74th minute: Ferencváros pushed hard for a winner, forcing a series of corners and a fine save from the Pécs goalkeeper.
• 88th minute: Pécs nearly won it on the break, but the final shot flashed wide of the far post.

Tactical story: possession against resilience

Ferencvárosi TC Women dominated possession and built their attacks through quick combinations in wide areas. Their full-backs pushed high, allowing the wingers to drift inside, but that also left space for Pécs to counter. The home side’s pressing was effective in the first half, yet their intensity dropped slightly after the interval.

Pécsi MFC Women adapted well. They defended deeper, narrowed the central lanes and looked to release their forwards quickly whenever they won the ball. The equalizer came from that exact pattern, and it gave the visitors the belief to hold on for a point. Ferencváros continued to probe late on, but their final ball lacked the precision needed to break down a compact defence.

Standout performers

Kovács was a constant threat for Ferencváros, linking play and getting into scoring positions. For Pécs, Horváth took her goal well and worked tirelessly in transition, while the goalkeeper delivered a strong performance with several saves under pressure. The Pécs back line also deserved credit for surviving a late wave of Ferencváros attacks.

What the result means

The draw is a reminder that the Hungary Women’s Division 1 League offers few easy matches. Ferencvárosi TC Women will be frustrated to drop points at home, especially after leading, but they remain a strong attacking side with plenty of quality. Pécsi MFC Women can take confidence from a disciplined away performance and a point that could prove important in the season’s broader standings.
