Videoton FC Fehérvár delivered a commanding performance to defeat Szentlorinc SE 3-0 in the Merkantil Bank Liga on October 10, 2026. The three-time Hungarian champions showed their class with a disciplined and efficient display, comfortably seeing off a stubborn Szentlorinc side at the MOL Aréna Sóstó.

Match Overview

Videoton started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when striker Márton Zsóri converted a penalty after a foul in the box. The hosts continued to dominate possession, and they doubled their advantage just before half-time through a well-worked team goal finished by midfielder Ádám Bódi. Szentlorinc struggled to contain Videoton's attacking waves and rarely threatened the home goal.

The second half was more of the same, with Videoton controlling the tempo. They added a third goal in the 67th minute when Zsóri grabbed his second of the match, heading in a pinpoint cross from the left. Szentlorinc attempted to push forward late on, but Videoton's defence held firm to secure a clean sheet and a comfortable victory.

Tactical Story

Videoton set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the full-backs pushing high to overload the flanks. Their midfield duo controlled the game, winning second balls and recycling possession quickly. Szentlorinc defended in a deep 5-4-1 block, hoping to frustrate the hosts and hit on the break. However, they were unable to maintain possession long enough to relieve the pressure. Videoton's patience and precise passing eventually broke them down.

Standout Players

Márton Zsóri was the standout performer with two goals, taking his tally for the season into double figures. Ádám Bódi was also excellent, dictating play from midfield and scoring a fine goal. In defence, Videoton's centre-back pairing was solid, barely giving Szentlorinc a sniff. For the visitors, their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable.

Season Impact

This win strengthens Videoton FC Fehérvár's position in the upper reaches of the Merkantil Bank Liga table, boosting their hopes of immediate promotion back to the top flight. Szentlorinc SE remain in the lower half and will need to improve quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Videoton's superior squad depth and experience are clearly telling as the season progresses.
