ESMTK edged a five-goal thriller in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III on 17 October 2026, defeating Szolnoki MAV FC 3-2 away from home. The 19:00 kick-off delivered end-to-end football, momentum swings and a decisive away performance that gave ESMTK all three points in a competitive Hungarian third-tier fixture.

Match overview

The match began with Szolnoki MAV FC looking to use home advantage, but ESMTK were compact and dangerous on the break. The visitors’ midfield worked hard to close down space, and their forwards showed good movement whenever ESMTK won possession. The game opened up as it progressed, with both sides committing players forward in search of a breakthrough.

ESMTK’s lead changed the rhythm of the contest. Szolnoki MAV FC were forced to push higher, which created more room for the visitors to counter-attack. The home side fought back and kept the match alive, but ESMTK’s efficiency in the final third proved to be the difference.

• The hosts responded with a goal of their own, lifting the home crowd and setting up a tense period before half-time.
• ESMTK regained the lead with a well-placed finish from the edge of the area.
• A third goal for the visitors gave them breathing room and forced Szolnoki MAV FC to chase the game again.
• The home side pulled one back late on, but ESMTK managed the closing stages calmly to secure the win.

Tactical story

ESMTK’s success came from balancing defensive discipline with sharp counter-attacking. Their midfield protected the back four well and forced Szolnoki MAV FC into wide areas, where crosses were easier to defend. When ESMTK won the ball, they moved it forward quickly, targeting the spaces left by the home side’s advanced full-backs.

Szolnoki MAV FC had spells of possession and created enough chances to take something from the game, but their finishing and final decision-making let them down at key moments. The home side’s pressing also left them vulnerable to quick breaks, and ESMTK punished those gaps with three well-taken goals.

Standout players and table impact

ESMTK’s attacking players deserved credit for their composure in front of goal, while the midfield unit set the tone with relentless work rate. The goalkeeper also made important saves during Szolnoki MAV FC’s stronger periods, helping the visitors protect their advantage.

The 3-2 victory is a valuable result in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III and strengthens ESMTK’s position in the table. For Szolnoki MAV FC, the defeat will be frustrating given the chances created, but the performance showed enough attacking intent to suggest they can respond in their next fixture. ESMTK, meanwhile, will take confidence from winning a high-scoring away match.
