The scoreline tells its own story. Gyula were sharper in the duels, quicker to the second ball and far more clinical in the final third, converting four of their best chances against a Szegedi VSE side that never recovered from conceding early.

How the Goals Came

Szegedi VSE had barely settled when the visitors struck in the 9th minute. Gábor Kiss made a well-timed run into the channel, controlled a defence-splitting pass and finished calmly into the far corner. It was the perfect start for Gyula and an immediate setback for the hosts.

Szegedi VSE responded with a spell of pressure and forced two saves from the visiting goalkeeper, but they were caught out again in the 34th minute. A corner was only half-cleared, the ball was recycled to the edge of the box, and Gábor Kiss was on hand at the back post to guide home his second of the night.

The third goal effectively settled the contest. In the 61st minute, Attila Molnár burst through the middle, held off his marker and lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper with impressive composure. Any hopes of a home comeback disappeared in the 79th minute when Tamás Juhász added a fourth, finishing off a flowing team move with a low strike from just inside the area.

Szegedi VSE did at least get the consolation their efforts deserved. In the 88th minute, László Balogh converted a penalty after a foul in the box, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. It was little more than a footnote on the evening, but it was a goal the home supporters acknowledged warmly.

Tactical Story

Gyula's 4-3-3 was aggressive and vertical. Their midfield trio pressed high, won the ball back quickly and looked to release their front three within seconds of regaining possession. The result was a stream of attacks that Szegedi VSE's back four struggled to contain, especially in the wide channels.

Szegedi VSE attempted to play out from the back, but the pressure on their centre-backs was relentless and their attempts to find a rhythm were repeatedly broken up in midfield. With the game gone by the hour mark, their shape became stretched and Gyula picked them off almost at will.

Standout Players

Gábor Kiss was the outstanding performer of the match, scoring twice and tormenting the home defence with his movement throughout. Attila Molnár controlled the midfield and added a fine individual goal, while Tamás Juhász completed a front three that was sharper and more cohesive than anything Szegedi VSE could offer. For the hosts, László Balogh kept working and deserved his late penalty, but too many of his teammates were second best on the night.

What It Means in the NB III Table

Four goals away from home is a statement of intent, and this result lifts Várfürdő Gyulai Termál FC into more comfortable territory in the standings while doing wonders for their goal difference — a metric that frequently decides the finer placings in the third tier. Szegedi VSE, meanwhile, are left with a heavy home defeat to digest and a clear need to tighten up defensively before their next outing.

Up Next

Gyula will be eager to carry this momentum into their next fixture, while Szegedi VSE must regroup quickly, address their defensive shape and find a way to make home advantage count in the weeks ahead.
