Komarom VSE edged past Sarisapi Banyasz SE 1-0 in Hungary's Nemzeti Bajnokság III, with a single second-half goal proving enough to settle a tight, evenly matched contest. The home side's patience and defensive discipline were rewarded on an evening when clear chances were at a premium.

Match overview

Under the lights at their home ground, Komarom VSE began brightly, controlling possession and forcing Sarisapi Banyasz SE into a deep defensive shape. The visitors, well organised and compact, were content to absorb pressure and look for opportunities on the counter. The first half produced plenty of industry but little in the way of genuine goalmouth action: a couple of long-range efforts and a handful of corners were the sum of it.

The decisive moment arrived in the second half when Komarom's persistence finally cracked the resistance. A move that started in midfield worked its way into the penalty area, and a composed finish from around 12 yards gave the hosts the lead. Sarisapi pushed forward in search of an equaliser but found the home defence in unforgiving mood, and the final whistle confirmed a hard-earned three points.

Key moments

• 17 minutes: Komarom's first meaningful attempt — a dipping effort from distance — is pushed over the bar by the visiting goalkeeper.
• 35 minutes: Sarisapi Banyasz SE threaten on the break, but the final shot is blocked by a well-timed sliding challenge.
• 63 minutes: The breakthrough. Komarom VSE work the ball into the box and finish low into the corner to make it 1-0.
• 76 minutes: The visitors introduce fresh legs and switch to a more direct approach, forcing two corners in quick succession.
• 89 minutes: A last-ditch clearance and a save from the home goalkeeper protect the clean sheet in a tense finale.

Tactical story

Komarom VSE's approach was patient and structured: a double pivot in midfield screened the back four, allowing the full-backs to push forward and provide width. That control meant Sarisapi's attacking players were often isolated, forced to chase long balls rather than build play. The hosts' willingness to recycle possession and wait for the right opening was the difference in a match of fine margins.

Sarisapi Banyasz SE defended bravely and were unlucky to concede when they did, but their attacking plan never fully clicked. Their most dangerous moments came from set pieces and second balls, and had one of those half-chances fallen kindly, the result might have been different. As the game wore on, fatigue and the need to chase the game pulled their shape apart, and Komarom managed the closing minutes with maturity.

Standout performers

The goalscorer will take the headlines, but Komarom's midfield anchor was arguably the man of the match, breaking up play, winning second balls and setting the tempo. The centre-back pairing was commanding in the air, and the goalkeeper's late intervention preserved the three points. For Sarisapi, the goalkeeper kept his side in the game with several good saves, while the central defenders produced a string of blocks before finally being beaten.

Season impact

The win gives Komarom VSE valuable momentum in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III table and reinforces their home record, which has become the platform for their season. Clean sheets of this kind build belief, and the coaching staff will be particularly satisfied that their side found a way to win without being at their fluent best.

Sarisapi Banyasz SE leave with nothing but can take encouragement from the defensive organisation on show. Converting narrow defeats into draws is the next step if they are to climb away from the lower reaches of the division.
