Csepel claimed a 3-2 win over Szolnoki MAV FC in Hungary’s Nemzeti Bajnokság III on 24 October 2026, completing a late comeback in a match that had looked set to slip away. The final score rewarded Csepel’s persistence and punished Szolnoki for failing to protect a second-half lead.

Match overview

Szolnoki MAV FC made the brighter start and took the lead after a well-worked attacking move. Csepel responded positively and equalised before half-time, only for the visitors to edge ahead again after the interval. The game changed in the final twenty minutes, when Csepel increased the tempo, pushed more bodies into the box, and scored twice to turn the match around.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Szolnoki MAV FC opened the scoring with a low shot after finding space between Csepel’s midfield and defence.
• 34th minute: Csepel equalised with a tidy finish following a patient move down the left.
• 58th minute: Szolnoki regained the lead from a set piece, heading home from a corner.
• 76th minute: Csepel made it 2-2 after a substitute’s cross was turned in at the back post.
• 88th minute: The winner arrived when Csepel pressed high, won the ball in the final third, and finished sharply from inside the area.

Tactical story

Csepel’s comeback was built on width and second-half substitutions. In the first hour, they struggled to break through Szolnoki’s compact shape and were vulnerable to counter-attacks. After the break, Csepel moved the ball faster and stretched the visitors’ back line, creating space for crosses and late runs into the box. Szolnoki defended deeper as the game wore on, and that invited pressure. The decisive goal came from exactly the kind of high turnover Csepel had been chasing.

Standout performers

Csepel’s substitutes changed the game, adding energy and directness in the final third. The midfield also deserves credit for keeping the team composed after falling behind twice. For Szolnoki, the set-piece goal was a bright moment, but their failure to clear their lines under late pressure proved costly.

Season impact

The three points give Csepel a morale-boosting home win and strengthen their position in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III standings. Szolnoki MAV FC will rue a game they led in the second half, and the result underlines how important late-game concentration is in a competitive division. Csepel’s ability to score twice in the final quarter of an hour is a positive sign for their season, while Szolnoki must regroup quickly and tighten their defensive structure.
